Those looking to arrange migration visas and head to Western Australia in 2014 may be interested to learn that a number of changes have been made to the state's Skilled Migration Occupation List.
As of January 15, reports the government of Western Australia, six job titles have been removed from the list: civil engineer, mechanical engineer, production or plant engineer, chemist, computer network and systems engineer, and translator.
The Skilled Migration Occupation List is reviewed and, if needed, revised on a regular basis to ensure it's always up to date and best serves the industries most in need of workers from overseas.
Even though these job titles have been removed, there are still plenty of "occupations in demand". If you work in any of the fields listed here, you could be eligible to apply for a subclass 190 or subclass 489 visa.
In addition to this, the government has announced that new criteria for state nomination will come into force on March 1 at midday, which could affect both visa applicants and Australian migration agents alike.
These changes will not affect any visa applicants who have already received an invitation to apply for state nomination.
