The diversity of marine and wildlife to be found in Australia is just one of the things that makes this country such a great place to visit.
Tourism operators on the picturesque Fraser Coast have experienced a particularly good run of it lately, with a superb whale watching season attracting a record number of visitors.
Passenger numbers increased by up to 26 per cent for operators that participated in the government-funded 'Harvey and the Humpbacks' campaign.
According to Tourism Minister Jann Stuckey, the increase in passenger numbers is partly in thanks to the sheer amount of whales in the area this season.
"The whales have put on an impressive show this year with dozens of humpback sightings reported," Ms Stuckey said in a statement.
"The strong results are impressive and show that the Fraser Coast is the home of the whale watching experience."
Online interest in Fraser Coast also increased this season, with the Queensland Whales website receiving 62,000 unique clicks.
If you were one of the many people to research the Fraser Coast whale watching experience online, why not visit Australia to see the sight with your own eyes?
