On Thursday (October 17), Victoria's government announced it will be launching a 'Super Trade Mission' to China between October 21 and 25.
This is the second Super Trade Mission the government has organised, and will see delegates from approximately 300 organisations heading to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and six other cities in China.
The purpose of this trip is, as always, to "capitalise on established business relationships" the state has with these areas.
Australian migration agents may remember the 2012 Super Trade Mission, which Premier Denis Napthine says was a huge success. This year's trip, he promises, will be bigger and better than ever.
The delegates plan to talk up Victoria's "liveability and lifestyle", showcasing the state's food and beverages, sustainable urban design, tourism, ICT and world-class health care system.
"China is Victoria's number one trading partner, number one food export market, number one source of international students and number one source of tourists," said Dr Napthine.
So, migration agents in the state will agree it's important to keep the ties between our two countries strong.
Dr Napthine concluded by saying that China's growth is inextricably intertwined with Victoria's prosperity, and he welcomes the Prime Minister's decision to pursue a China-Australia Free Trade Agreement.
