Migration agents and their clients now have access to a range of health insurance options through a new partnership between Bupa and Migration Alliance.
This includes people visiting Australia to study over a short period of time, who can enjoy a number of benefits provided their visa does not require Overseas Student Health Cover or they possess a visa that allows temporary employment in the country.
Available to singles and couples, but not families, short stay education cover through Bupa is suitable for the following visa types:
476 Skilled - Recognised Graduate (Temporary) Visa
416 Special Programs Visa
417 Working Holiday Visa
419 Visiting Academic Visa
456 Business (Short Stay) Visa
459 Sponsored Business Visitor (Short Stay) Visa
462 Work and Holiday Visa
470 Professional Development Visa
485 Skilled - Graduate (Temporary) Visa
956 Electronic Travel Authority (Business Entrant) Visa
976 Electronic Travel Authority (Visitor) Visa
977 Electronic Travel Authority (Business Entrant) Visa
676 Tourist Visa*
However, it is important to note there are some treatment exclusions that apply for this type of cover, and applicants must be visitors aged under 50.
This level of cover can be used as an alternative to travel insurance (which does not extend past 90 days), although individuals should note Bupa's short stay education health insurance does not meet minimum health insurance requirements set out by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
*Documentation showing enrolment in an Australian university, educational facility or English language centre must be provided for this visa subclass
