Morrison to host cocktail reception

With the polls where they are, registered migration agents may want to attend a reception with the next potential minister for immigration and citizenship.

Opposition frontbencher Scott Morrison will host a cocktail party on April 10, as he will be looking to promote the Coalition's agenda for the upcoming election and beyond.

Shadow minister for innovation, industry and science Sophie Mirabella will be the special guest at the event, something that may be of interest to registered migration agents.

The party will be held at the Tynan Motors Showroom in Miranda from 18:30 until 20:30, with reservations closing April 5.

Liana Allan of Migration Alliance explained that migration agents can get to know what policies the Coalition have, as it seems that come September they will no longer be in opposition.

Mr Morrison has showed the strength of his leadership and his deservedness for the frontbench portfolio, explaining to the parliament yesterday (March 13) that confidence in border protection has been absent since John Howard.

He said: "Under the Howard government the level of permanent migration to Australia doubled, but at the same time the percentage of Australians who had concerns about immigration levels being too high had halved over the term of that government."
