Call for Papers - Migration 2013 Conference series

Papers and proposals for presentations are invited for the Migration 2013 conferences across Australia.  The main conference theme is Migration 2013 - Advance Australian Immigration. The organisers are open to proposals for contributions on other topics such as immigration impacts on economic, social, and business growth, as well as to proposals for sessions on particular visa subclasses and other migration themes.  Researchers across a broad range of disciplines are warmly welcomed.  Early migration law researchers are encouraged to participate. The conference organisers are particularly interested in attracting papers that examine developments in Australian Migration Law and Policy, in particular recent changes by DIAC or examinations of different visa subclasses of and how RMAs can incorporate these changes into their everyday practices.

Attendees are interested in topics which relate to them in their everyday practices.  Topics of greatest interest to delegates are:
  • Skilled Migration and the EOI
  • Business Migration  - SkillSelect Investment and Innovation
  • Cancellations and Refusals
  • Temporary Business Migration  - 457 and other new subclasses of visitor
  • Boat People, Detention and UNCs
  • Employer Sponsored Migration and Regional Sponsored Migration
  • Student Visas and the new Cancellation Process
  • PIC 4020
  • Schedule 3
  • Health and Character
  • DIAC's new 'online account'
  • Economic Forecast
  • Political forecast and impact on change off government to policy

Our theme could be approached from a number of perspectives, including those of the academic, the immigration historian, the immigration theorist, the business immigration expert, the applied immigration expert, as well as the social expert on the impact of Australian immigration. There is ample scope for new interpretations, new findings, as well as syntheses of existing topics.
