Australian migration agents invited to Significant Investor Visa event

Migration Alliance is encouraging migration agents to attend an exclusive event, which is being organised by two of our sponsors, NAB Private Wealth and PwC Private Clients.

This is a must-attend event for all migration agents in Australia who have an interest in or would like to learn more about the 188 and 888 Significant Investor Visa program.

The program is still relatively new, having only been introduced in November 2012.

It requires prospective applicants to submit an expression of interest in SkillSelect, be nominated by a state or territory government in Australia and make a $5 million investment (at least) in "complying investments".

Such "complying investments" include commonwealth, state or territory government bonds, managed funds regulated by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) and direct investments in Australian proprietary companies.

Those who are eligible to apply for the Significant Investor Visa program are not required to meet the newly named Department of Immigration and Border Protection's points test, and no upper age limits are associated with the program.

According to the New South Wales government, they are also exempt from the English language requirements that are levied on those applying for other immigration visas.

NAB Private Wealth and PwC Private Clients will be offering registered migration agents who attend this event information about this complex program.

This will enable you to provide your clients with the expert advice and support they need to successfully apply for a Significant Investor Visa.

In particular, the event will cover the complying investment choices that are available to your clients, as well as any tax considerations that you should keep in mind.

There is also a planned Q&A session, which will give you and your fellow migration agents to voice any concerns you may have about the program and get your questions answered by the experts.

This is good opportunity to raise any problems you've been having with particular clients.

If you would like to attend, register your interest today - places are limited, so it's first-come, first-served. You can RSVP to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

The event is taking place on Wednesday, October 30, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. It is being hosted at the PwC Offices, which are located at Level 10, Tower 2, Darling Park (201 Sussex Street, Sydney).

There will be light refreshments, as well as the opportunity to mix and mingle with other migration consultants from around the country.
