MIGRATION ALLIANCE HAS DONE IT!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!
Media Release: Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash

Red Tape Reduction for Migration Agents
The Coalition Government's commitment to red tape reduction was highlighted today with the announcement by the Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash that re-registration of migration agents would be simplified.
Minister Cash has announced the removal of the English language proficiency requirement for re-registering migration agents.
Under the former Labor Government, the change affecting the re-registration of migration agents was due to come into effect from 1 January 2014.
Minister Cash said simplifying the re-registration process will save the sector time and money.
This decision reflects the Government's commitment to reducing red tape and will allow the migration advice industry to focus on providing high quality assistance to clients.
Minister Cash said she was not satisfied that the former Government's decision to impose an additional burden on re-registering agents by requiring them to demonstrate their English language competency was supported by evidence.
"It is clear from my consultations that industry stakeholders were concerned by the detrimental impact this measure would have had on experienced agents," Minister Cash said.
Minister Cash also stated that she would now consider a broader review of the migration advice industry including English language requirement for migration agents entering the profession.
"Given the role played by the migration advice industry in the delivery of Australia's migration programme, it is important it maintains high standards and continues to develop professionally," Minister Cash said.

It's a great news. Well done to MA team and thanks to Chris and Liana.
Now we know who is our real representative of all RMAs.
MIA just cares about a few RMAs only.
Actually what I believe for themselves.
However, MA cares about all RMAs.
I will not renew MIA membership next year again.
Well Done Liana and Chris .
You guys are legend ..
LIana and Chris:
Royal salute from all the RMAs. We have been watching you since the inception of the IELTS test for repeat registration applicant. Chris has been vocal in many of the CPD program I have attended organized by the MA. Liana has been fighting the battle for the disadvantaged RMAs. Chris and Liana have been humiliated and called names by the same people who wanted to see the red tape!.
Interesting fact that there is NO need for Liana to attend the IELTS considering her educational background but she still stood up for the cause and fought a battle!
I am an applicant who has undertaken IELTS and got the required band (Overall 7.5). I always believed that it is unnecessary as there are many experienced migration agent who believe in professionalism and ethics and they will be disadvantaged by this requirement.
Thanks a lot guys!!
That's the great news for all MA members.
MA is the real alliance with the spirit of “that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth”. Forget about the “ Rick and Rat”.
I strongly suggest that a Christmas Party to be hosted and extend our thanks to MA team and the Minister.
All congratulations must go to Migration Alliance, in particular Liana and Chris! Not only have you won the battle against this highly unfair, discriminatory and arbitrary imposition and attack on the profession, for all RMAs, you have also won the hearts and minds of many, if not all, of us who have witnessed the battle along the way as you fought openly, tirelessly and unrelentingly until the very end. We know this is not an easy victory and you guys deserve all the credit! For the first time ever, I as a RMA truly felt that a professional body has actually done something real for its members in this industry. For far too long we were let down, time and again, by a so-called peak professional body which was the one that started all this mess then sat on its hands but now is trying to claim the credit. Shame on you MIA! Shame!! Shame!!!
Let us never forget that it was this very same MIA that had made us as RMAs pay the current exorbitantly high repeat registration fees, year after year!
As far as I am, and I believe many RMAs are, concerned, Migration Alliance will be the real peak professional body of the industry from now on, representing all RMAs, not just the selected few.
It is the MIA that will eventually disappear into the ether of irrelevance!!!
Liana you gave me the Christmas gift of my life. I was not looking forward to sitting IELTS test. I was one of the affected RMAs who the MIA left for dead. I am not re-joining that membership organisation again after they failed to represent me. MA member now forever.
