MIGRATION ALLIANCE HAS DONE IT!!!  WOOOHOOO!!!!

Media Release: Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash
05/12/2013 - 02:26 PM

Red Tape Reduction for Migration Agents

The Coalition Government's commitment to red tape reduction was highlighted today with the announcement by the Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash that re-registration of migration agents would be simplified.

Minister Cash has announced the removal of the English language proficiency requirement for re-registering migration agents.

Under the former Labor Government, the change affecting the re-registration of migration agents was due to come into effect from 1 January 2014.

Minister Cash said simplifying the re-registration process will save the sector time and money.

This decision reflects the Government's commitment to reducing red tape and will allow the migration advice industry to focus on providing high quality assistance to clients.

Minister Cash said she was not satisfied that the former Government's decision to impose an additional burden on re-registering agents by requiring them to demonstrate their English language competency was supported by evidence.

"It is clear from my consultations that industry stakeholders were concerned by the detrimental impact this measure would have had on experienced agents," Minister Cash said.

Minister Cash also stated that she would now consider a broader review of the migration advice industry including English language requirement for migration agents entering the profession.

"Given the role played by the migration advice industry in the delivery of Australia's migration programme, it is important it maintains high standards and continues to develop professionally," Minister Cash said.

LIANA WON US NO ENGLISH TEST! Thursday, 05 December 2013

Well done Liana. Thanks for fighting for us. Thank you to Chris. We know it was you guys that got this one over the line for the profession. The MIA will try and claim credit. They were the ones who started the whole English testing problem in the first place. We all know that you did it Liana! Relax. The industry has been watching.

Thank you Liana & Christopher for the conscientious & hard work you all did on behalf of us to truly represent us.
This was of course the broader view of the majority of us RMAs.
That was the reason why I as a RMA never ever even dreamt of joining that sham organisation called the Migration Institute of Australia.
Shame on them for not having led this fight for us.
Yes of course you were right, some us do speak & write better English than some of the DIBP officials.
    B regards, Lalin

GREAT JOB LIANA - WELL DONE. Good afternoon Liana. You are right, it is a great day for celebration. No one else should get the credit for this achievement, but you. I had the pleasure of witnessing you work with Sen. Michaela Cash during the previous Migration Alliance conference in Sydney. Your commitment to serve is evident.

Liana you are our migration profession's Joan of Arc. Thank you for winning this for us. You are a special lady. You personally went to Canberra to fight for all of us who needed to sit the IELTS test and you did not need to do that test yourself. That is a noble person. I bow down to you.

The MIA submission in January to the Minister is shameful. I just received their newsletter trying to claim credit for this win. I am disgusted in them. How dare they pass off as having anything to do with this win. MIA = Missing In Action. I am not renewing my MIA membership. Migration alliance is the real leader. MIA just take our money. Liana thank you. You are my goddess.
