MIGRATION ALLIANCE HAS DONE IT!!!  WOOOHOOO!!!!

Media Release: Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash
05/12/2013 - 02:26 PM

Red Tape Reduction for Migration Agents

The Coalition Government's commitment to red tape reduction was highlighted today with the announcement by the Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash that re-registration of migration agents would be simplified.

Minister Cash has announced the removal of the English language proficiency requirement for re-registering migration agents.

Under the former Labor Government, the change affecting the re-registration of migration agents was due to come into effect from 1 January 2014.

Minister Cash said simplifying the re-registration process will save the sector time and money.

This decision reflects the Government's commitment to reducing red tape and will allow the migration advice industry to focus on providing high quality assistance to clients.

Minister Cash said she was not satisfied that the former Government's decision to impose an additional burden on re-registering agents by requiring them to demonstrate their English language competency was supported by evidence.

"It is clear from my consultations that industry stakeholders were concerned by the detrimental impact this measure would have had on experienced agents," Minister Cash said.

Minister Cash also stated that she would now consider a broader review of the migration advice industry including English language requirement for migration agents entering the profession.

"Given the role played by the migration advice industry in the delivery of Australia's migration programme, it is important it maintains high standards and continues to develop professionally," Minister Cash said.

You may call Rick. My bother is Michael Seamus.

Nice. I love Nespresso, though not a great fan of George Clooney movies.

How much lower, will you, [b]the MA go[/b?

    Hi All,
That "Rick" doubts just about everything, uses a pseudonym and takes umbrage at imagined slights is indicative of psychopathic tendencies. Please don't say anything on this blog [or on any other forum] that may cause him to take offence, lest he target you individually. The last thing I, Robert Steain RMA [of an address that is easily found on OMARA website] would suggest is that anyone actually post any blog that may tick this gutless piece of shit off! Uh Oh! Did I upset you, little Princess?
p.s. Nice use of dictionary definitions but it never carries far in lack of facts. We all have access to dictionaries, thesauri [see!] and google- the excessive use there-of sort of makes you [whomever you are] seem "so far up yourself". Just my opinion, to which I, like you am entitled. to.

I am writing to express our appreciation and thanks to you and your team.
We just read the release about Migration Alliance fights and wins against English Testing of RMAs and the MIA submission about this issued enclosed. As I understand it, you and your team have spent huge time to protect those RMAs affected by this stupid policy. However, MIA never cares about this affected group and continues to support the MARA on this issue. We are extremely disappointed with MIA. We promise we will support you and Migration Alliance forever. We hope to pay the annual fee to Migration Alliance, rather than MIA

Well Done Liana and Chris, through your effort and hard work, this win has now solidified Migration Alliance as the only body capable of effectively representing the interests of all RMA'S, the MIA is only a special interest group.

Never too late to say thank you for two things. The first thing - we all know about this. This great news just come right in time as I was about to take the bloody IELTS while having a Bachelor degree and a Master degree, both taken in Australia with UWS and UTS respectively, and they could not help me to fit the "english capability" category.
The second thing is to help us to realise how dirty politics can be by showing us the example of Rick O'Shea and help us to know what we should do in the future by choosing the right place to belong to.
I feel so sorry for the ones who left the profession because of this horrific nightmare. I also feel sorry for the ones who spent money to take the test and lost their faith in the OMARA and its corporate counterpart.
I do not condemn IELTS test because of my English ability, however I do condemn the effort to impose something that is least important to do. There are more important for MIA, for OMARA to care about: such as actioning against unregistered practices in a more effective way and raise public awareness about the industry and the work that we have done to help our country to attract many great human resources and do our duties as Australian citizens.

First of all, thank you immensely for your work to fight for us with MIA, and what happened on 5th December would be a milestone in migration consultants' industry.
    Merry Christmas !
