From 18 June 2025, the Department of Home Affairs will implement Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all ImmiAccount users. This security enhancement will apply to both new and existing users.
Users will be required to set up MFA when creating an account or logging in. Once enabled, MFA will be required at each login and when making any changes to the account. Users will also have the ability to reset their authentication method within ImmiAccount.
To prepare for this change, users are encouraged to:
Install an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, on their mobile device or computer.
Verify their email address, particularly if they have not logged in to their ImmiAccount in the past six months.
ImmiAccount is the primary online platform for accessing Australia’s visa and immigration services. The introduction of MFA provides an additional layer of security and aligns with broader Australian Government cyber security standards.
Further information and step-by-step setup instructions will be available in ImmiAccount from 18 June 2025.
