South Australia will receive an economic boost with the Morrison Government agreeing to two Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMA) with the South Australian Government.

The Adelaide City Technology and Innovation Advancement Agreement and Regional South Australia DAMA arrangements will assist a range of industries including agriculture, forestry, hospitality, tourism, health and construction among others helping to fill critical employment gaps and drive economic growth.

Covering 60 occupations, up to 300 people per year will be able to be sponsored over the five-year agreement through the Adelaide City Technology and Innovation Advancement DAMA.

The instrument repeals and substitutes subparagraph (c)(i) of the definition of health workforce certificate in Section 4 of the Migration (LIN 19/048: Specification of Occupations- Subclass 482 Visa) Instrument 2019 (LIN 19/048).

The purpose of this amendment is to rectify a drafting error by substituting the correct ABN for the NSW Rural Doctors Network Ltd.

According to a report just released, HR managers support the employment of skilled migrants to assist with skill shortages in Australia but see flaws in the new Temporary Short- Term Visa scheme (TSS) that replaced the 457 Visa scheme last year.

The report sets out the findings from a survey of members of the Australian HR Institute (AHRI) conducted late last year. Of the 383 respondents to the survey, more than eight out of 10 (84 per cent) believe a skilled migrant scheme is needed in Australia, three-quarters (75 per cent) report their organisation has benefited from employing skilled migrants, with 72 per cent reporting that skilled migrants have transferred their skills to other employees.

In addition, more than nine out of 10 (93 per cent) report that they make an attempt to fill skill vacancies in Australia first, and 73 per cent report that sponsoring foreign workers has not affected their capacity to recruit Australians.

On a monthly basis a set number of EOIs are selected from SkillSelect to receive an invitation to apply for State nomination. WA Migration Services will contact you via email with a link to the State nomination application form if you are invited. EOIs are selected based on the following ranking system.

1 Applicants eligible for the general stream by highest points score.

"Over 5,000 students from ASEAN countries are studying in here while increasingly, students from South Australia are studying elsewhere in the region.

This a powerful tool for us to create a bright future for our youth together, and to contribute to a prosperous and harmonious Asia-Pacific region.  I am aware that during the program for your visit, you are discussing education as well as some of our other key industries and the opportunities they provide for further mutually beneficial co-operation and development.  So I will try to build on this by outlining the key measures my Government is putting in place to put innovation at the heart of that agenda.
