The following news has been received by a police detective in NSW:

Liana,
There has been a fairly long wait for this but I can finally let you know that by all accounts, Abel Prasad is planning on pleading guilty in the Adelaide Court for the production of false Commonwealth documents tomorrow (12/05/2016). I am led to believe that he is also intending to plead to outstanding ATO tax matters as well. There are still matters outstanding in NSW and possibly more to come, but that has resolved the first of my matters with him. I would wait until tomorrow to tell you this but unfortunately I will be away from my desk.
Hope that is good news,
regards

We have recently become aware of a company (myti.com.au aka MyCom) making cold telephone calls to RMAs in an attempt to sell RMAs printer and toner goods. When calling RMAs, they say that Migration Alliance has provided them with a 'list' of agents and their contact details.  We haven't.

myti.com.au are cold calling.  We have no relationship with them.

They apparently have a call centre offshore.

A complaint about the conduct of a senior migration agent has recently been submitted to the Migration Alliance which provides a graphic illustration of the type of client interaction that we believe all Registered Migration Agents should be extremely careful to avoid.

The story, as reported to MA, is that the agent had been engaged to assist a same-sex couple with a partner visa application.

Unfortunately, after the applicant's medical exam had been completed, the agent took it upon herself to call the applicant and to conduct a conversation with him while the applicant was using a speaker  phone at his work place.

Migration Alliance members are invited to participate in counter-warfare training in Poland, invited by our Convenor, Liana Allan.

As many agents are aware, a new subject, approved by the Office of the MARA, is currently available for Registered Migration Agents; Terrorism offences, Citizenship and ASIO Security Assessments - An overview for Migration Agents (click here to visit the paper)

Agents who have an interest in this area of law, may also be interested in courses that deal with immediate responses to terrorism in a real-life situation.

Yes, that is absolutely our exact sentiments when we read the 457 Agent newsletters about proving genuineness of a nominated occupation. If you are not familiar with it, please read on intently and see why our office (that provides support and report writing for migration agents) are in agreement with the Department!

“A number of companies have emerged who are in the business of developing ‘genuineness submissions’ to provide to the Department. Such submissions are not required and in fact can be of limited value due to their ‘template format’.
