Marry-your-sister visa racket exposed

Police in the Indian state of Punjab are investigating a brother-sister duo, believed to be currently living in Australia, who are accused of forgery and marrying each other in order to get Australian visas.

The Conservative Party has long called for urgent reform of the visa system with rorts and scams abounding. SBS reports, the pair’s cousin complained to the police earlier this month that they had forged a bank account, a passport and other documents in her name and used them for getting an Australian spouse visa.

I think that the writing is on the wall for these candidates.
It just shows you what lengths some people will go to...

On a positive note, at least he'll get along with the in-laws.

Years ago a married couple that I had acted for in their spouse visa came to see me a few years later. They had divorced and each of them had married old friends who themselves had recently divorced. They were truthful in explaining to me why they were doing this. I explained the risks and said, nicely, that I could not act. They understood and left.

Another young couple came to me and we began the process. The lady came back alone and told me that this was a fake marriage, that she was only helping the guy to stay and she wanted out. She was most upset when I explained that she was in fact married to the man and referred her to a lawyer dealing with divorces. Whatever can be done, WILL BE DONE, folks!!! Never be surprised.:o

So much for the exercising of due diligence and duty of care. A colleague of mine has told me that the DoHA has recently refused a visa (and for a genuine application in every sense of the word, and not for an applicant from a country of high risk), based on lack of relatively minor information, and without any RFI, notwithstanding that it was provided, and subsequently "lost in the system". However, the DoHA in its infinite wisdom, and seemingly perennial incompetence, yet again, manages to be hoodwinked.
