LegendCOM still better than LexisNexis

It's been a while now and I am wondering what agents think about the LegendCOM and the LexisNexis Professional Library subscription products.

I note that the LexisNexis professional library is being plugged heavily across the profession at the moment.

In my professional opinion, and in the opinion of the agents that work directly with me, we believe that the LegendCOM product is far superior to the LexisNexis product.

Firstly, in relation to functionality, LegendCOM wins hands down.  Going back to an article I wrote about LexisNexis in 2013 I wonder if agents are still concerned the functionality of LexisNexis.  Back in late 2013 RMAs were reporting that LexisNexis simply did not work well as LegendCOM.

Agents reported about the LexisNexis professional library as follows:

"The internal links apparently don't work well, and they do not bring you to the specific, related PAMs and legislation, instead they take the user to a generic page where the agent must then search through that page to find what they are looking for".

Back in 2013, Migration Alliance and LTA were engaged in a commission scheme with LexisNexis.  This meant that for every new client we referred to LexisNexis, we were paid a referral fee.  This commission scheme was on a sliding scale so that the more agents we referred, the more commission we got paid, incrementally increasing.  I wonder if any other organisations are being paid to promote the LexisNexis product now.

Given the feedback from RMAs on the price of the LexisNexis product and the negative user experience, we made a call to end the relationship with LexisNexis five months ago.   Some of you may recall that announcement on 4 December 2013.

Whilst we knew we were going to do without commission payments from LexisNexis, we made what we thought was the right decision, which was to act in the best interests of the profession, not our own back pockets.

I invite agents to ask this question.  If an organisation is pushing a product or service in this profession which seems to be more expensive or not as good as other products or services out there......WHY?

The answer is usually MONEY.

In my opinion, the DIBP's LegendCOM professional library product is still the best on the market.  Guess what?  I don't get paid to endorse the LegendCOM professional library.  I speak from personal experience.   My advice is the good old golden rule of 'buyer beware'.

My vote goes to LegendCOM.

What do other agents think?

Take our poll:  LegendCOM v LexisNexis

I've looked at them both, and have settled on LegendCOM primarily because of the completeness of the internal links. The primary concern I had about LN was that there were no direct links between the legislation and the applicable legislative instruments. While the commentary (apparently all written by Fragomen people - was hoping to see more of a diversity of approach and opinion frankly) was interesting and useful, for day-to-day work the lack of instrument linkages was the issue that pushed me to Legend.

What is this snobbery. Just because they work at Fragomen doesn't instantly mean they are superior to their fellow RMAs.
