Most of issues seem to be related to IS. From what I understand IS isn't about religion ie Islam, it is about power and money which can be achieved via the radicalisation of low IQ disenfranchised individuals

For me the issue is not religion. The issue is how much migration we should have from the parts of the world where there are serious and dangerous issues. At present these include the Middle East and North Africa. If these problems are caused by religion or radical religion then so be it, we must consider Australia and Australians first and be very careful. A good, fair and well run humanitarian program with maybe a small increase would be good. As for general migration, it should be balanced across the world but with special care about character and background checks. This will probably limit migration from the two parts of the world I mention - so be it.

Ignorance is not always bliss. In relations to this matter it is frightening. Banning Muslims will not stop terrorism it will only compound the matter and will drive more people to have extremist views, on both sides.

It breaks my heart to think of the poor Muslim kid who has to get up every day and deal with a world that is constantly telling him that he is part of some evil cult and pretty much wished he didn’t exist. What do you think this is doing to him? Isn’t it just driving him towards the hands of the extremist?

Crocka Sheet + Ian Stanley-Bosley . Like your comments. MA should pass on these to the government.

Is this a Migration Alliance poll?

    Dear Sarah,
I simply do not know if this is an MA poll.
Either way, it is not likely to be very accurate if it allows a subscriber to simply log on and click yes or no each time they enter the system.

Very surprised by the results thus far being "Yes" at 81% and "No" at 19%.
However, when I proceeded to vote "No" the results displayed were very different: "Yes" at 12% and "No" at 88%. I am hopeful that the latter result is the correct result.

Given this is not a MA poll, I'm not sure of the relevance to MA members and suggest this is removed. MA is an association (or I believe) for reputable Registered Migration Agents and therefore this type of commentary is detrimental to our profession.

I am not surprised at the poll. Look at the Senator just voted in, she got 500,000 votes. There is a huge silent group in Australia who are truly worried. The right wing parties gained more votes this election and the left (Greens and Labour) went down. This says something about what the people want and the people are always right in a democracy. Wait until we see some of the European countries elections, many governments will fall to the right and the first to go will be Merkel in Germany. Look what happened in the UK re the EU. The people are speaking and= it isnt in support of high migration from the risk areas of the world.

Why remove a poll just because some do not like the results? Censorship?

I wonder if there is a mischievous moderator, when I voted it also said 88% no. Now that would surprise me more.

The results for ROUND ONE of 10,001 responses to the poll have now been placed into the body of the blog above. ROUND TWO of the next 10,001 responses is currently underway. There is a maximum cap of 10,001 responses per poll. We are trying to see if in ROUND TWO (the current poll accessible now in the above blog) will balance up the results a little.

Immigration numbers need to be balanced across the global community so as not to be dominated by any specific country, race or religion. Having a migration program that is first come first serve will always be dominated by countries with the highest populations and/or instability.

A quota system based on County or Region would help in balancing the migration program and providing an equilibrium of Migrants with diverse backgrounds and skills.

This would be difficult to implement however as it would take the political courage and fortitude which has been lacking in modern Australian politics.

We don't need the polls to be balanced up, just to reflect what people vote. If it is heavily weighted one way, so be it, the people are having their say. This has been a reallty interesting post and poll, thanks.

This site and the above opinion poll is farce. One does not need to sign in to vote and one can vote any number of times.
also there is no count as to number of votes either.
    What a ridiculous poll
