A Bill for and Act to amend the Australian Citizenship Act 2007, and for related purposes.
In 2015, the current terrorism-related citizenship loss provisions were included in the Australian Citizenship Act because of the threat that foreign terrorist fighters presented to Australia and its interests.
These provisions have helped protect the Australian community and ensure Australian citizenship remains compatible with the shared values of the Australian community.
Notwithstanding, around 80 Australians of counter-terrorism interest are believed to be still in Syria and Iraq, some of whom may seek to return to Australia.

This is a very interesting piece of legislation...read section 36B(5) then check out Note 2 then read subsection 36B(8).........
Do our spy and other agencies ( there are a lot of them both Federal, State and Territory) need exemption because they are engaging in the activities proscribed by section 36B(5)?
I hope not.
