RRV...Why so slow?

Although it may be this time of year but I am getting a lot of enquiries about processing times for RRVs.

Apparently 90 percent of the applications are cleared in about 2 months but where the applicant does not meet the residence requirement it is now about 3 months.

My advice.....

1. If you want to be a permanent resident don't live overseas

2. If your RRV is going to expire come back into the jurisdiction and apply then be prepared to wait.

3. Don't, under any circumstances be offshore let the RRV expire then apply for a further RRV.

4. Be realistic and if the client says they can't wait then they should be prepared to give up their PR.

5.  In the case of a relationship where the spouse is going to be unsuccessful in their RRV, get the partner and kids onshore and when the RRV expires lodge a spouse 309/100 for the offshore partner and if the visa is granted then they can get another 5 years!
