First reading in the Senate: Plebiscite (Restricting Non-European Migration) Bill 2018 (yes, you read it correctly)!!
Migration Agents might want to be aware of this first reading which was put to the Senate yesterday by Senator Anning. I am not sure if this has hit main stream media yet, but to me this seems nothing short of a xenophobic, racist, bigoted move! Here it is and below is the extract from Hansard:
BILLS Plebiscite (Restricting Non-European Migration) Bill 2018
First Reading
The PRESIDENT (12:15): I shall now proceed to the discovery of formal business. Given the Senate's vote denying the postponement of notice of motion No. 1166, I will move immediately to that matter. Senator Anning, we're moving to notice of motion No. 1166, as the Senate has determined not to allow its postponement.
Senator ANNING (Queensland) (12:15): I seek leave to make a short statement.
The PRESIDENT: Leave is granted for one minute.
Senator ANNING: Just on the comments around the room earlier, the bill only asks for a plebiscite to give the Australian people a say in who comes to this country. I can't think of anything more democratic than that, but apparently everyone else in this room can.
I move: That the following bill be introduced: A Bill for an Act to provide for a plebiscite at the next general election in relation to migration to Australia and for related purposes. Question agreed to.
Senator ANNING: I present the bill and move: That this bill may proceed without formalities and be now read a first time.
Question negatived.

Friday, 19 October 2018There is merit in adopting a diversity threshold and affirmative action in the Skilled Migration space. BUT this bill, as presented by Anning, is clearly racist.

Xenophobic clap-trap, but also fascinating notion that Sen Anning thinks he knows what a European is. Scholars, academics and those living on the continent don't. Is Britain part of Europe? Is he referring to Western Europeans only? Persons living in areas formerly within the Roman Empire? Does it include Turkey and Israel? Does it include Russia and Eastern Europe? Idiot!

I will support this bill, once it is established who is ORIGINAL AUSTRALIAN.
That is Australians By Originality. They are AUSTRALIANS. All others are migrants. Just Senior migrants and Junior migrants. Those who migrated here illegally may be senior migrants. All others are junior migrants. With a history of 50,000 years, ABORIGINALS ARE ORIGINAL AUSTRALIANS with 100% DNA. Australian By Originality (ABORIGINAL). Let them decide who to migrate. Not those who illegally migrated here with their point testing (must have received "from 12 to 100 lashes" ), character testing (Wow!! .....) , security check (.. "Each convict was then stripped to the waist and any distinguishing features were put on file"...... British Empire have one????) , skill check (convicts are eligible to transport to Australia by ship in 1803)
Comparing to 50,000 years of Aboriginals Permanent residency is nothing to 220 ( 1800-2018) years of migrant history of illegal & legal migrants . So Let the Aboriginals decide who is to migrate and who should not. Not the senior and junior migrants.

My first instinct is that this has to be a joke or some sort of voodoo BS calculated to defame a sitting Senator.

As far as I can determine he is apparently aligned with Bob Catter aka the "Catt in the Hat" or the "Mad Catter...." (I just made those up).
That tells us everything we need to know...as to the legislation as they say in the classics.. "tell em their dreamin..."
More like a nightmare...lets hope the Government actually bothers to read what is proposed before they vote on it....
