Is Officio's LegendCOM offer to RMAs free?

Migration Alliance members would have likely received an email advertisement from 'Officio' advertising the following:

"If your MARA registration expires soon get LEGENDcom free"

An earlier promotion from Officio first came to the industry's attention last year.  It is our understanding that Officio is buying a limited LEGENDcom subscription on behalf of agents who sign up with them as a sweetener or “loss leader”.  It is our understanding that Officio are backing themselves that migration agents, having signed on, will want to keep using their product into the future.

It is our understanding that the DIBP have not entered into any special arrangements or have provided any discounts to support this promotion. Effectively, Officio are passing $730 to the DIBP for a limited LEGENDcom subscription and keeping the remainder as the cost of the annual subscription to Officio.

I took up this offer. The Leap software costs too much to get the training and then you have to pay extra to use forms. I have had officio for a few months. It is ok but it does not have everything you need. Like online forms. Any other agents using this software?

Our firm looked at this but the lack of any type of online application stopped us. Plus some of the comments on other forums had us worried. Also does make you wonder how long they can last as a business with this type of promotion if they aren't making much money from it - hate for this to be like all the other online software companies that have come and gone over the years (whatever did happen to INZOOM?). Anyone have any other suggestions?

Yes. The offer is very true. I got it and it is very helpful and my money is not wasted unlike when I subscribed solely with Legend which I rarely use. I don't mind if it has no on-line application forms. Immi Acct takes care of that anyway.

Leap, although quite good, is expensive for what it is and when you have to buy a number of "seats" with no discount for seats 2,3, 4 etc the $$ quickly gets up there. We are using Officio and yes, it lacks some things but to it's credit, it is 100% in the cloud and not a server based product trying to fit in a cloud structure by using other mediums etc (Sorry Simon), with an overseas office, this is important to us. We are anxiously waiting for Office 365 integration to be released at the end of this month, this will be a game changer for us as our biggest bugbear is the inability to merge docs, the conversion of docs form Word to (eyuk..) Zoho and the hopeless internal email system. Online forms are coming (so we have been told), recall how Leap was many years ago, how it has improved over the years. If it was built for cloud, we would probably stayed albeit the inflexible pricing structure.

I think that the free Legend offer is simply a way to gain market share, don't we do similar things in our own practices when we want to gain a strong foothold in a market?
The MA comment on the subs " Officio are passing $730 to the DIBP for a limited LEGENDcom subscription and keeping the remainder as the cost of the annual subscription to Officio - how so? (a) Buy the Legend subs as always or (b) Subscribe with Officio and get a Legend sub free, I have no knowledge of what is available in this "limited subscription" but for some consultants that may be all they need (subject to Code etc). Note also that Officio is a month to month subscription with no lock-in 3 year term etc. Anyhow, this is our firms experience and if it all goes pear-shaped then we will have to re-evaluate. Lets not just allow one player to dominate the game, competition makes both or all providers work up a sweat to give good service to RMA's.
Inszoom is still out there but I don't see it as an alternative to either Leap or Officio as it is too focused on the USA.

Yes, we do offer a free limited Legend subscription that is free for new subscribers. We see it as a way of making the decision easy for people who are thinking of trying our software. You are right, we do back ourselves that agents will get value out of the system, and continue to use us in the future. And if they don't see value, then we don't deserve to keep them.

Officio is a software tool, and like most tools, its value depends on your business needs. We don't claim it can be everything to everyone, but we think it's pretty good at what it does. We've been offering solutions to Immigration practitioners in Canada since 1996, and in the time we've been assisting Australian practitioners, we've already built a solid user base. We've already invested heavily in customising for the Australian industry, and we've been working together with some of our early adopters for two years now. We're here for the long haul.

Our LEGENDcom promotion also plays to our strengths. The software is relatively easy to use, and you just need a browser to access it from anywhere (Firefox preferred!). So agents can get started without too much hassle, and they aren't locked into a three year commitment. Of course, it's migration, so nothing is simple, but this is an easy way to get started with us. If it turns out it's not for you, download your data and use something else. We'd be sorry to see you go, but as one of our users has said above, at the end of the day, the competition benefits everyone.

    Abhishek,
I am intrigued by your offer of a limited licence of Legend whilst at the same time your website says you provide fully fillable DIBP pdf forms? How did you guys get around the copyright and licencing issues which require agents to have a full subscription to legendcom to get access to fillable forms? Also I don't know how many readers have ever read the terms and conditions of legendcom but they are quite restrictive (they actually prohibit non licensed recipients from filling out the forms on a screen - its under 6(d) in the T&Cs ) so I'm interest how Officio sells these forms as part of your software if I don't need a fully licence to Legendcom?

    Amanda,

We don't use the fillable forms provided in Legend, as (you are quite correct) these are subject to licensing restrictions - we use our own technology. If you are interested in using our service please feel free to contact me directly for further details.

Are you saying that you have copied the forms and created a new version of the forms? It would be useful for everyone if you provide the information on here about how you come to have the fillable forms.

    Ronald,

Some of our forms are not even PDFs! But we don't talk about the technical details because the competition might catch up. Please feel free to contact me directly.

We have found leap to be too expensive and are now moving to officio - with the market down for Migration in Perth, Western Australia; Leaps fee structure is just not viable.

Just curious, why do people get the LEGENDcom subscription with fillable forms when the fillable forms are available for free from the DIBP website?

Good question Kris - about the fillable forms. As with everything, LegendCom is more for the PAMS, Regs and Legislation and the interaction between the three when you can't afford to miss the larger picture or NOT make the connections... Forms will always (you would think) updated by the Department on its website... Will check Officio out...

    Cheers

Just wondering if Officio still offers LegendCom as part of its subscription?

  • Guest
    Chielen Thursday, 11 January 2018

    Hi Gerald,
The Legendcom promotion is over, and to clarify also, LEGENDcom is not included as part of Officio. It has been purchased as part of our introductory limited time offer for new subscribers.
