Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the Sydney siege

Our heartfelt condolences to the victims of the Sydney siege.

The Migration Alliance wishes to express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the Sydney siege. We are shocked and saddened by the incident which we like most people in this peaceful country are still trying to comprehend and come to terms with.

Our thoughts are with the families of the Sydney barrister and mother-of-three Katrina Dawson; and Lindt Café Manager, Tori Johnson who were tragically killed in the incident.

Media reports state the Police stormed the premises at about 2.00am after gunshots were heard from inside the café where 17 hostages had been held.

Tori Johnson, aged 34, was wrestling a gun from the hostage-taker when he was killed. Tori had been employed at the Lindt cafe since October 2012 and had worked at a string of other restaurants and hospitality companies around Sydney. The ABC reports that, a former colleague Tony Manno, said he was shattered to hear the news this morning. "Tori was a great guy, a good guy to be around," he said. "He got on really well with all the staff."

Katrina Dawson, aged 38, was killed when trying to defend a pregnant friend according to AAP reports. Ms Dawson was one the best young minds in Australia and rising star at the commercial bar according to the website Australianlawyer.com.au. “Katrina was one of our best and brightest barristers who will be greatly missed by her colleagues and friends at the NSW Bar. She was a devoted mother of three children, and a valued member of her floor and of our bar community” noted Jane Needham SC, the president of the NSW bar association.

With regard to Islam, everyone should read the Koran at least once. If "Mein Kampf" (by Adolf Hitler) had been generally read, then he would have been stopped much earlier and World War 2 would not have happened
