NSW Trade and Investment tries to control the message
NSW Trade and Investment (government) has their nose out of joint because of my blog "Kevin Lane is a dibber dobber" and the white-anting of Migration Alliance by Kevin Lane.
I spoke to Lindsey Cox from NSW Trade and Investment this morning at 10am who was "very annoyed" that I had exposed the fact of Kevin Lane having complained to Treasury.
Apparently the email where Kevin Lane complains to NSW Trade and Investment about content on the MA website was sent to MA accidently by NSW Trade and Investment. Whilst I can understand NSW Trade and Investment being embarrassed, I thought the failure to disclose the complaint from Kevin Lane in a meeting with MA this week on Tuesday was hardly indicative of an 'open and frank relationship'.
I have just been informed by the PA of Liana Allan that NSW Trade and Investment is now throwing a tantrum and threatening to withdraw from the SIV Conference on 3 July 2014.
NSW Trade and Investment have been invited to the SIV Conference to participate in panel discussion on the SIV and other related matters. Migration Alliance is a major sponsor of that event.
I have just heard that unless "Kevin Lane is a dibber dobber" is taken down by 11am today (15 min from now), then NSW Trade and Investment will withdraw from the SIV Conference.
NSW Trade and Investment needs to understand, like DIBP, that Migration Alliance do not respond to threats or attempts to constrain fair comment.
As I said to Lindsay Cox in my telephone conversation with her "I don't care what NSW Treasury wants."
She said "The blog has damaged the relationship with Migration Alliance and the MIA".
I said "I don't care".
She said that the complaint was "benign".
I said "It isn't benign. Kevin Lane has taken every opportunity to white-ant MA. The blog is true. He is a back-stabber and a dibber dobber".
It's also unfortunate that Ms Cox was so furious that she hung up on me, but given that I have it on good authority that I am an annoying person, I completely understand her being so furious.
As far as I am concerned if NSW Trade and Investment wants to spit the dummy because of some difficulty in their relationship with the MIA occasioned by their own negligence, that is simply too bad.
I expect that Liana Allan will be rung by NSW Treasury in an attempt to control what I write in the blog. The fact is this. It is my blog, my opinion, and I am entitled to those views. As the Convenor of MA and the author of the blog, I have refused to give permission to have the blog removed.
I apologise to Liana Allan for an apparent waste of her time and effort in trying to establish a good working relationship with NSW Trade and Investment.

Friday, 27 June 2014I honestly think that Kevin Lane should be fired by his board for bringing the industry into disrepute. It's unncessary and disgusting behaviour to be tittle-tattling to the government about something like this. Kevin Lane is backstabber. Christopher you are correct. I also wonder about how many other emails he is sending about Migration Alliance to others. Is this part of his role as Chief Operating Officer is it? Industry snitch? I guess Kevin thinks he will win friends and influence government this way.

Whole migration industry now in big drama because Kevin Lane at MIA cannot stop backstabbing MA. I recommend Kevin Lane gets removed by his board. Poor NSW Investment they have no idea about how mean the MIA is to MA over the years. Tip of ice berg showing. Government needs a tutorial on this. People stop pretending about if you can. MIA wish MA were not here.

Thank you Christopher for having the bravery and fortitude to stand up and speak the truth. Freedom of speech is alive and well. Just as Kevin Lane chose to exercise his comments so have you. It is sad that the MIA seem so intent on getting the MA and bringing them down. many rumours about the industry tell me that this is not a first. Christopher can you let us know if Liana has had a response from Kevin. She sent him an email.

Has Kevin Lane been fired yet. I will let the new CEO of the MARA know that Kevin is creating friction in industry. Chris thanks for letting us know what is really going on. If we rely on MIA they will give us some BS and pretend everying is fine and no problem. I am not renewing my membership with MIA next year and I encourage others to do the same.

What a fiasco. Kevin reminds me of the kid at school who tells the teacher and then expects to be chosen for class captain. The worst part of all of this is that he is the captain for agents as their role model. I am supposed to be his member. I am also a member of the MA. This means I need to make a choice. Ethical choice is that Kevin had no need to do what he did and now I plan to resign from MIA. I am not paying out money to a COO who spends his time on these small things. I hope MIA members are re-thinking their membership.
