Breaking Australian immigration news brought to you by Migration Alliance and associated bloggers.
Last Friday 13th June 2014 Migration Alliance representatives attended the DIBP NSW Client Reference Group meeting held at the Gateway Building, Elizabeth Street, Sydney.
Steve Ingram, the CEO of the Office of the MARA provided a positive presentation regarding the migration advice profession.
Interestingly the profession is trending upwards and there are now approximately 5200 RMAs in the profession. This is up from 4899 last year. Mr Ingram said that the upwards trend had been continuing for some time now.
The Office of the MARA have been conducting pre-emptive monitoring of migration agent websites to ensure compliance with the RMA Code of Conduct. Mr Ingram said that evidence shows that the majority of agent websites inspected meet the requirements and that he was pleased to see high compliance with the Code. The Office of the MARA have also been looking for evidence of websites that claim 'guarantee of success'.
Importantly Mr Ingram stated that all agents who are employed at a firm must display their MARNs on the company's website. Sometimes only one MARN is displayed when a number of agents work in the firm. The Office of the MARA request that if agents have not already done so, that they ensure all agents working in a firm have their MARNs placed on the company's website alongside their colleagues.
This is great news for an already highly compliant profession.
Steve Ingram brings a breath of fresh air to the Office of the MARA, with proactive meetings and positive engagement with the profession.
Nothing will happen with the new CEO .
Ingram needs to make the Authority more accountable in terms of staff quality and finances
(which he will never do ) .
The huge amount of OUR money wasted on rent on their office and staff who seem to do very little . NO ONE is ever disciplined or dismissed for incompetence . Any criticism of the Authority is dismissed with no action taken. The whole place is a sheltered workshop for
' the unemployable ' from the real commercial world .
