Cooking class with Scott Morrison MP last night

Last night Christopher Levingston, Liana Allan and Jennifer Fong from the Migration Alliance board and committee along with Glen Frost and Renee Zhao from PwC, Dina Goebel from Bupa, Stacey Martin from NAB and Karen Berkley from VETASSESS attended an Italian cooking class with the Shadow Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Scott Morrison MP and his wife, Jenny.

As you will see from the images below, just for a bit of fun everyone was wearing a Migration Alliance apron.

The pizza cooking class was held in Pyrmont at a Restaurant called Signorelli Gastronomia at 6:30pm.  This is the level of engagement that Scott Morrison MP is willing to put in to the Registered Migration Agent profession.  Scott Morrison is respectful of our profession and listens to our views and ideas.  Scott Morrison puts in time and energy understanding agents and their perspectives.

As an aside, Migration Alliance is still waiting for a reply email, telephone call or any form of contact from the current Immigration Minister.  Or the one before him.

Silence speaks volumes.  So does engagement and participation.  If the Coalition wins the Federal elections and if Morrison becomes our new Minister for Immigration and Citizenship then at least we can expect dialogue and communication.

Migration Alliance is interested in and enjoys engaging positively with different parts of the industry.

Morrison MP Liberal Supporter Tuesday, 13 August 2013

Scott Morrison seems like a great guy and it is so fantastic to see a Federal MP working so hard and engaging with the migration agent community like this. This man deserves to become our next Immigration Minister. The fact that he has such a supportive wife is also good. The best thing about Morrison MP is that he is one of us, an Australian. I will be voting Liberal next election because Labor has done nothing for migration agents for last 6 years except make our life hell. I want a new hope and that hope is with Morrison. Stop the boats!

Scott Morrison MP is better than Labor Immigration Minister for migrant coming to Australia. Scott Morrison is my favourite. Give Vietnamese community a better chance than this terrible Labor government. Thank you to Scott if you become next Immigration Minister. Also your wife pretty lady. I support a family that has a good wife like you have. I support Morrison. He will be good for us Vietnamese people in Australia.

Stop the boats. I don't want Labor to get back in again. Morrison to be the next Immigration Minister to fix the problem on Australia's border. We are stuck with this ridiculous Labor government too long and no solution just Immigration Minister after immigration Minister. I am from Chinese background and all my friends will vote Liberal. We live in Campsie.

Look, I'm not even a migration agent or in this profession but someone has to do something about this crazy fiasco Immigration boat people situation that has been created by Labor. The sooner the coalition wins the elections the better. Vote 1 Scott Morrison. And I live in the Shire so I will vote for Scott Morrison MP. Scott Morrison is the answer to Australia not being an embarrassment to the world with our boat people problems. Go Scott and go Liberal and Go Australia.

Where is the immigration minister for labor these days and who is it at the moment? Probably having secret meetings with the union bosses like dave noonan or mr sheldon from twu. unions suck. labor sux. I like Scott Morrison and I want Tony Abbott to get in. I am a Greek so I know what I am talking about. Greeks rule and so does the Liberal party. Also at least Mrs Morrison looks like she has a personality. Mrs Morrison also gets my vote. ;)

571 school visa for China can be streamlined!

    Visa fee should be lowered!

I don't think temporary protection visas without ability to sponsor family members is a more humanitarian answer than the 'PNG solution'. We've been there done that and it did not work. Women and children wanting to join their husbands or fathers had no option but to jump on the boats themselves. Nor is it a solution to streamline the refugee visas and deny the asylum seekers access to review or judicial review and leave the faith of asylum seekers in the hands of DIAC officers only. We all know how many mistakes they make. I seriously considered voting Coalition but after their announcement of their boat people policy I can't be part of this inhumane treatment of people. Have no option but to vote Labor.

I like the new announcement that Abbott and Morrison made yesterday about stopping the boats. That is good news that refugees will have their visas processed quickly and then if they are not genuine, they are removed. Perhaps we need to have a processing centre in Indonesia where they get on the boats, so that they go there instead of getting on a boat.
