Allianz Global Assistance have partnered with Legal Training Australia to offer banquet lunches, refreshments, and morning and afternoon tea for Registered  Migration Agents attending one day 10 CPD events hosted in capital cities across Australia.

Below are a few photographs of the most recent banquet lunch hosted on Saturday the 8th of September, 2018 in Sydney. There are a few surprised and happy migration agents sitting down for lunch together at the Mercure Hotel, Sydney Central.

It seems that Allianz GLobal Assistance have really taken over as the migration profession's preferred health insurance provider, especially when they have brilliant  customer service, an easy-to-use referral portal, and offer 13.6% commission for Overseas Visitors Health Cover (OVHC) and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

The Fair Work Ombudsman is calling on Domino’s head office to take action after finding breaches of workplace law across 19 stores in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

In the compliance activity, some Domino’s stores were selected for audits due to reported workplace issues. Others were randomly selected to test the overall national level of compliance.

Inspectors interviewed 144 Domino’s workers and analysed 874 employee records at 33 stores across a one-month period. Inspectors discovered 20 workers had been underpaid a total of $1,978 in the one month.

Australia’s peak body of tourism organisations, Australian Chamber-Tourism, welcomes the announcement today that Canadians up to the age of 35 years are eligible to apply for working holidaymaker visas, from November 1, 2018.

Australian Chamber-Tourism Executive Chair, John Hart said, “the Working Holiday Maker Visa Program facilitates cultural exchange between Australia and partner countries and is important to the leisure tourism market, and the short-term labour force needs in some regions."

“Working holiday makers approximately spend two and half times more than they earn, and create over 25,000 jobs in the Australian economy.

All visitors to Australia will need to have health insurance under a NSW Government proposal designed to spare taxpayers the hospital costs of Medicare-ineligible patients.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard said each year NSW public hospitals write off about $30 million in unpaid medical expenses by visitors who fall ill without adequate insurance.

“I have written to the Commonwealth and other Health Ministers suggesting extending the health insurance requirement to all temporary visa classes,” Mr Hazzard said.

  1. TSS Update

The Department of Home Affairs (Home Affairs) advises that TSS applications will be processed in the following order:

  1. applications lodged by accredited sponsors
  2. applications lodged for positions that are located in a regional Australia
  3. applications lodged under the Labour Agreement stream
  4. all other applications

Processing time for TSS applications depends on a number of factors including the Stream under which an application is made as well as whether the nominee is an existing 457/482 visa holder.  On average, the processing time for a TSS application (as per updated Global Processing Time) is between 32 to 50 days in 75% of all cases.

Home Affairs also confirmed that it will no longer accept priority processing service requests as of 5 September.  This means that any TSS applications lodged on or after 6 September with accompanying priority processing request will result in the request no longer being acknowledged and the TSS application will be processed under the abovementioned arrangements.
