This instrument amends the Migration (LIN 19/048: Specification of Occupations- Subclass 482 Visa) Instrument 2019 to rectify a drafting error by substituting the correct ABN for the NSW Rural Doctors Network Ltd, and to remove inapplicability condition 23 from the occupation of Horse Breeder (ANZSCO code 121316) in the Regional Occupation List to ensure that the instrument reflects the correct policy intention for this occupation.

Item was repealed on 20/06/2019, and is no longer in force

Yesterday the Hon Peter Dutton MP, Minister for Home Affairs said the following at a Press Conference in Sydney:

"... I am worried by this most recent court decision and I am awaiting advice at the moment in relation to our appeal prospects – either to the full Federal Court or to the High Court – so we'll wait and see what that legal advice has to say.

But it's inconceivable that a sovereign government doesn't have the right to say who is going to come to our country and don't have the right for those people who return back once medical assistance has been provided. Now an important point to make is that people were already coming to Australia for medical assistance where it was required and that's the case today.

Figures showing another record year for global displacement emphasise the important role Australia can play in helping the world’s most vulnerable, according to one of Australia’s leading refugee settlement experts.

Every minute in 2018, 25 people were forced to flee their homes, according to UNHCR’s Annual Global Trends report, released to mark World Refugee Day today. By the end of the year, 70.8 million people globally were forcibly displaced – representing the highest level since the UN Refugee Agency began 70 years ago and a year-on-year increase of 2.3 million people.

“These sobering figures show how important it is for Australia to accommodate the world’s most vulnerable people through a generous refugee intake in our humanitarian program,” said Violet Roumeliotis, who is the CEO of community organisation and social business Settlement Services International (SSI).

Announcement – NSW skilled nominated migration (190) closed for 2018-19

We would like to announce that we have met our quota of nominations for the Skilled-Nominated visa (subclass 190) for the 2018-19 financial year.

We will announce the commencement of invitations to apply for NSW nomination for the 2019-20 financial year via our website in the coming weeks.

Migration Agents can hear directly from the NSW Department of Industry on the 15 November 2019 at the MIGRATION 2019 Conference in Sydney.
