Liana is the owner of Legal Training Australia Pty Ltd which is a professional development firm training Australian migration agents and owner of Visacorp Pty Ltd migration agency. Liana's main passion is serving the needs of the migration agent community and providing migrants with information that can truly assist them as they seek to create a new life in Australia. Liana plays netball twice a week and enjoys great food and the occasional glass of Shiraz. Liana lives in Sydney, Australia and has two children. Liana is married.

The National Farmers’ Federation has acknowledged the findings of the Migrant Workers’ Taskforce Report led by Dr Allan Fels AO and cited an agriculture-specific visa as a means to help prevent exploitation and ease the sector's labour crisis.

In the report released today, Dr Fels has made 22 recommendations to protect vulnerable workers including criminal sanctions for ‘serious and egregious’ deliberate exploitation, a bolstering of the Fair Work Ombudsman’s capacity, and the development of a National Labour Hire Registration Scheme.

Federal Jobs and Industrial Relations Minister, Kelly O’Dwyer has given ‘in principle’ support to all 22 recommendations. NFF Chief Executive Officer Tony Mahar said farmers relied on a migrant workforce and the sector had zero tolerance for the exploitation of workers.

An overwhelming majority of women migrants find life in Australia ‘better’ than in their home countries and believe they have more rights than at home.

Most say they have more opportunities here than at home and are more financially independent. And overwhelmingly they say they have more control over their daily lives here in Australia and believe men and women should have equal access to opportunity.

The survey of 140 new women migrants and refugees from non-English speaking countries, commissioned by refugee and migrant settlement agency AMES Australia, also found that migrant women in Australia have more access to a range of services and activities including education, work, women’s health, child care, driving a car and political and religious activity.

The AAT Bulletin has been released.  Citizenship decisions are on page 4.  Migration decisions are on page 5.
