Liana is the owner of Legal Training Australia Pty Ltd which is a professional development firm training Australian migration agents and owner of Visacorp Pty Ltd migration agency. Liana's main passion is serving the needs of the migration agent community and providing migrants with information that can truly assist them as they seek to create a new life in Australia. Liana plays netball twice a week and enjoys great food and the occasional glass of Shiraz. Liana lives in Sydney, Australia and has two children. Liana is married.

I received an annoying email today from IARC, an organisation which has largely been living off the purse-strings of the Australian government for as long as I can remember. 

The email was nothing short of a political sob-story, a media propoganda piece about IARC's poor legal centre.  The email suggests that IARC is losing IAAAS funding ( some of the approximately $17.3 million in 2010-11) to help non-Australian "irregular maritime arrivals" apply for Australian visas.

According to figures from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship this was around double the $8.8 million shelled out the year before that.

Last Friday 13th June 2014 Migration Alliance representatives attended the DIBP NSW Client Reference Group meeting held at the Gateway Building, Elizabeth Street, Sydney.

Steve Ingram, the CEO of the Office of the MARA provided a positive presentation regarding the migration advice profession.

Interestingly the profession is trending upwards and there are now approximately 5200 RMAs in the profession.  This is up from 4899 last year.  Mr Ingram said that the upwards trend had been continuing for some time now.
