Update 31 August 2017 at 9:00am: The MIA have issued the following statement in their newsletter dated 25 August 2017:
It has come to our attention that Christopher Levingston, on the Migration Alliance website, has published allegations that the Board of the MIA is under investigation by the Office of the MARA. This publication is an absolutely baseless and malicious fabrication with no truth or fact whatsoever. The MIA and the Board reserve their rights and will seek legal advice on the best action to take going forward.

Information has been received concerning an alleged investigation of the Migration Institute of Australia (MIA) board by the Office of the MARA. The information has come from a reliable source, but the content is unverified.
This is what was received:
"Howdy Christopher. This is XXX [name removed to protect privacy], we have met numerous time over the last 20 years.
Am happy to give you my proxy to vote no.
I also have some other info that you may be interested in.
The MARA are currently investigating senior members of the MIA - board members and others - for not acting fairly nor honestly in deal with members ie other migration agents.
Do you know the very short term CEO? - maybe call her. [Jacqueline Boer?]
Prima facie members of the MIA have breached, not only the Code and the Act but also the MIA constitution.
[removed line]
Perhaps the MA blog might mention that, but state from unknown but informed source etc.
[removed line]"
If anybody out there knows what is going on could they please let me know?
Christopher Levingston
