The New Zealand Minister for Immigration has announced that New Zealand will accept TOEFL iBT® test scores to meet the English language requirements for skilled migration visas from 21 November 2016.
This follows a review of English language requirements for a range of permanent skilled migration visas with stricter requirements around language proficiency being introduced.
This INZ initiative provides greater choice of English proficiency measures for applicants both onshore and offshore.
TOEFL® scores are already used in New Zealand institutions. New Zealand universities have seen an increase in prospective students applying with TOEFL scores over the last twelve months, with TOEFL test scores coming from 83 countries. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) already lists TOEFL iBT test scores under Rule 18 as an approved measure of English proficiency for ITPs and PTEs.
TOEFL test centres are located in Auckland, Palmerston North and Dunedin.
