Victim of Abel Prasad tells her story

Migration Alliance is in receipt of the following information from a victim of Abel Prasad.  The victim would like her name to remain anonymous.  The details of this story have been provided to the relevant authorities:

"I just wanted to share my experience with Abel Prasad in case it can be used as evidence against him… my experience wasn’t migration though but I figure every piece of evidence against this pathological liar would help?

I was employed by Abel Prasad around six years ago when he started a company called Ivy Envy Marketing. Originally he ‘employed’ myself and a number of other young women to work as interns for his business. At the time I was young and naive. I worked for him for around six months during which time I became acutely aware that he was a pathological liar and a manipulator. The group started as unpaid interns and after someone dobbed him into fair work (this was only made aware to me after I left) he began paying us. After seeing a letter in his office, I suspect I’m actually owed a lot of money from him when I was working as an intern because it was illegal for him to have us working for no wage and fair work had demanded he back pay us for our time, from which we never saw a cent for (not to mention the bounced pay cheques etc).

His lying saw us join him for business lunches and dinners where the ‘business partner’ or ‘client’ wouldn’t turn up and we came to realise that he was using us to either show off to people that he had employees or so he didn’t have to have a dinner on his own.

We also did some fundraising during our time for the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation. When it came time to donate the money Abel had supposedly counted the donations and they came in hundreds of dollars short of what the donation should have been. We knew that he had kept the money for himself and confronted him on it, but he of course lied and wheezled his way out of the situation and we couldn’t really prove anything.

There was another time that the group had taken our lunch break in Rundle Mall and some of the girls stopped at the pig statues or the malls balls (I can’t remember which) and took a photo. Later when we went back to work Abel confronted us and said that he had a phone call from the city council saying his employees were misbehaving in the mall and could recount what we had done. Again, when we confronted him on his lie he told us that he had CCTV footage of us and threatened to give this footage to the cops because taking that photo was illegal (which it’s not). We eventually realised that he had stalked us into the mall and watched us…. We never really knew how often he did that.

I’ve never met anyone like Abel Prasad in my life, and hope never to come across anyone like that ever again. I knew him for a total for six months and in that time I came to realise that he was a manipulating pathological liar who would do anything to squeeze some money out of anyone. He lied about big things like people stealing his identity (yes really) and then all the way down to little things like telling us his ex-girlfriend had killed a dog and smeared the remains through his garage and he had to flee the night into police protection…. Which we all new were all lies.

I don’t know if this will help your case in anyway but I’m happy to share my story if it is going to help put this fraud away. I’m still in touch with the girls I used to work with at Ivy Envy who were all relieved to hear his illegal behaviour had finally caught up to him."
