MIGRATION ALLIANCE SUPPORTS "SOLID INCUMBENT" STANLEY SHNEIDER FOR QLD/NT PRESIDENT OF THE MIA
The following is the statement provided to Migration Alliance for release, by nominee Stanley Schneider:
Dear Colleague,
As the Immediate Past President of the Queensland/Northern Territory Branch of the MIA, I seek your vote to enable me to return to that office. In the time I was your representative on the MIA’s National Board, I proposed numerous initiatives intended to expand the membership base and to reduce fees payable by members. They were not actioned during the current two year term by the sitting Board. At a State level, I took CPD and MIA functions such as the State Conference to Far North Queensland. I believe we need to extend that representation to the Northern Territory. My greatest success, however, was that I radically improved liaison between the MIA and government bodies such as the DIBP, MRT/RRT and State instrumentalities, a task that needs to be urgently revisited. If I am voted back into office, another of my priorities will be to improve communications and the level of support, both ways, between members and the National Office.
In essence, I want to help steer the MIA away from politics, political statements and undue political involvement, towards recognition of the MIA as an important body of highly trained, highly skilled, ethical and expert professionals. In so saying, however, I intend no criticism of the current State and National Boards. Selfless people undertake those positions at great personal cost to themselves, whether financially or time-wise. I personally thank all outgoing board members and, if I am elected, promise to dedicate myself to improving the MIA, especially by expanding its membership base and by introducing additional income streams to reduce present annual fee levels and CPD charges.
Kind personal regards,
Stan Shneider

Hi Stanley ,
Can we more details on the discussion to reduce Agents registration fees at the Board. Who opposed it and who supported your move. This is important for agents to know. We should not end the issue just because some vested parties objected to the reduction. Let us have an open discussion about it.
Thank you.
