Farewell from Kay Ransome: Last day as Principal Member of the MRT-RRT

Migration Alliance is in receipt of the following email from Kay Ransome:

Dear Community Liaison Network

As you are aware, tomorrow the Migration Review Tribunal (MRT) and the Refugee Review Tribunal (RRT) will become the Migration and Refugee Division of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT). As a result of these changes, today will be my last day as the Principal Member of the MRT-RRT.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for all your valued contributions over the last three years. I particularly want to thank everyone who attended or contributed to the community liaison meetings. Your suggestions, feedback and support have been invaluable. Together as a network we have overseen the MRT-RRT implement a number of efficiencies and this is something that we should all be proud of.

The future of the network will be decided by the amalgamated AAT. I have recommended that the program continue, as there are many benefits to engaging with our stakeholders and sharing information.

On a final note, yesterday the Governor General appointed Dr Irene O’Connell as the Deputy Principal Member of the MRT-RRT. Irene will transition into the AAT fromtomorrow. Further communication announcing the appointment of the Division Head, Migration and Refugee Division will be provided in due course.

It’s been a pleasure. I look forward to crossing paths with you again.

Regards

Kay Ransome
Principal Member
