At Bupa we understand that the end of financial year can be a stressful time for Migration Agents. Everyone reacts to stress differently however, there are things you can do to help you cope with stress, and lower your risk of developing stress-related health problems. Here are 5 quick tips on how to manage stress and maintain wellbeing during this busy time of year.
1) Maintain balance
It’s important not to let stress and anxiety consume you. Balance between activities and not over-committing to work related activities provides an opportunity for relaxation and ‘down time’.
2) Be flexible
Sometimes there are things in life we can’t control, so it’s important to acknowledge when we can provide solutions and when we have to let it go.
3) Get active
Physical activity not only helps to maintain a healthy body, but can also improve emotional wellbeing. Regular exercise can provide a positive outlet to mental stressors and anxiety, helping ease muscle tension and boosting energy levels through the release of “feel good” chemicals.
4) Talk it over
Work and life related stress can often become all consuming. Talking it over with workmates, friends, family or health care professionals can often provide a fresh perspective and help solve problems.
5) Eliminating unhealthy habits
Unhealthy habits can contribute to increased levels of stress, with nicotine in cigarettes and caffeine in coffee, cola and energy drinks acting as stimulants which can negatively affect your mood and how you work. Whilst alcohol may at first help you feel more relaxed, its long term effects can lead to health and social problems.
