WARNING - ImmiAccount defect - do NOT lodge previously saved applications (check first)

Important news just in from a RMA member of Migration Alliance:

"DO NOT lodge any saved applications that were ready to be lodged (and just waiting for the VAC - or any other reason).

I have several such applications.

Some are waiting for VACs - others are waiting for the 2 year requirement (801 partners).

By chance, after the “maintenance” the department has done on or around 23 August I checked such a saved, completed application - and found that INFORMATION HAS BEEN DELETED.

Specifically,  I have noticed travel, education and employment entries missing.  I have also noticed some fields to an ENS application were also deleted.

Obviously this might lead to PIC4020 problems.

I have just spoken to IT support.  The problem below has been “escalated” to a “level 3 problem” - and I can confirm that it is not isolated to my immiaccount - there are numerous others.

I can also confirm that the dept will NOT be contacting affected RMAs (or applicants) on this - which means that saved applications that then are lodged may have had data "missing" from that application.

Obviously my first concern is for my clients - my second is for my colleagues who may also unwittingly be caught out."

MA will be making a representation to the DIBP to ask that they notify those affected and asvise them that their accounts have been compromised?

I don't know that my applications, which were skeleton frameworks to start them, have been compromised (as they're still there) but the system on 22 August suffered some kind of meltdown. maintenance was meant to take place from 9pm onwards; i wasn't able to lodge an application which I still believe complied with Schedule 2 AND it booted me out at about 6ish, so that was that... needless to say that the application was then emailed and it didn't end well as it was not accepted as having been lodged on the Friday and the client became unlawful... (but that is likely to be the subject of future blogs).

So let's have feedback from others who were similarly affected last friday or generally with their Immig account, whether these are RMA errors or system errors - clearly, SOMETHING was happening last friday and it sounds like, over the weekend also. Very concerning...

I sent the above email to MA.

To further the issue - I have spoken to a number of techs and support officers from the dept.

It is definitely a system disfunction (defect) and not RMA error. It does not affect all accounts but it is an intermittent systemic problem that affects many/some. Apparently it has also affected some individual clients (non RMA's).

    IT support on:phone number 1800 204 299 and it.support@immi.gov.au

Don't waste time with the dept general 13... number , it'll take too long to be answered by someone who knows nothing. Keep in mind that a call to the IT number will not result in talking to someone who knows anything about immigration. It's the classic circular "you need to talk to them" scenario.

I would suggest drawing up a document containing the information missing (as a result of the online form's disfunction) in the application explaining the situation (with a task/complaint reference number) and attach it to the application if it must be lodged before the fault can be rectified.

Hopefully MA representation will result in those affected being informed that their account has been compromised.

In any case - check any saved applications all the way through before you lodge them.
Beware that data entered may not be saved when the application is - so log out and then log in again to check to see if it has been saved.

I can confirm that three of my applications have been missing data as well after the DIBP maintenance.

Yup, two of my applications were missing information - more than half were gone. Nearly had a heart attack, was just about to lodge the applications. So I had to copy the missing information from a previously saved application preview document - which struck me as utterly crazy. But it served as proof that I had the information in the application previously.

Yes, I found a RSMS visa application, that had previously been ready to submit, was missing all education and employment information. How frustrating!
