Migration Agent murdered in her home today

Migration Alliance expresses it's condolences following the tragic death of Margaret Tannous, a former DIBP officer, RMA and much loved member of Migration Alliance.

She was an outstanding professional and keen advocate for the rights of migration agents and regular attendee at LTA CPD events.

Our thoughts are with her family at this time.  Words cannot express how much she will be missed by this profession.

    So sad

    We should have an annual award dedicated to Margaret, in her honour and in memory of her. I will set about making sure she is not forgotten. Would anyone be keen to help?

    This is indeed very sad. But lets not go the way of the MIA who seem to keep on creating awards for just about everything. No doubt the lady will be missed by those who know her, but most members didn't and an award would be rather meaningless I suggest.

    Condolences to Margaret. No woman should ever have to endure domestic violence.

    I don't know how to express my feeling.
    Human beings are so complicated.
    Best wishes to her children!

    Dear Liana;
    I personally support this proposal. I am one of those lucky people that knew Margaret for many years going back to her first days at DIBP in Chifley Square Building near Wynyard Station. Both my Wife Caroline and I have been totally devastated by this sad news of this horrible act inflicted on Margaret. To think that Margaret was cut down in the prime of her life...just when she was getting everything in place in her life and had so much to live for and to offer her friends, family and colleagues...it is a sad loss and as far as I am concerned an evil act by a complete coward.

    I believe that an Award to remember and pay tribute to her is the least we can all do (irrelevant of how long or if you didn't even know her) This horrible event needs to be remembered, just the same way we celebrate or remember other events that would not be as worthy.
    I am sure that her family and friends will feel honored and humbled by this proposal...and I am 100% behind you.
    RIP Margaret

    Very sad, my condolences to the family.

    HOWEVER, she was a human being BEFORE she was a Migration Agent.

    I do hope you are not thinking of joining Murdoch's "headless-body-in-a-topless-bar" brigade.
