Breaking Australian immigration news brought to you by Migration Alliance and associated bloggers.
Migration Alliance attended the NSW Client Reference Group (CRG) meeting this morning at the DIBP, Level 5, Tower C, 300 Elizabeth Street, Sydney. Kay Ransome, the principal member of the MRT-RRT presented on 'Tribubals Online - Stage 1 e-Services'. The notes from the presentation are as follows:
The MRT-RRT is going online.
Phase one will be launching at the end of January 2014. Applications will be able to be lodged online and paymement made by credit card. Direct debit might be able to occur later. Applications will still be able to be lodged offline.
Benefits:
Service improvement. Users will be told instantly whether their credit card is declined or approved. The credit card payments are processed in a secure area of the MRT-RRT's website.
The introductory pages will describe systems, timeframes, options and offer three buttons at the bottom of the page, as follows:
1/ Start a new application
2/ Continue a Saved Application
3/ Registered Users
Registered users are RMAs. A unique ID will be created for Registered Users and this ID will be used so that the Registered User can log on. The Registered User on the MRT-RRT website will have data pre-filled so this is a benefit.
The system will ask the user to acknowledge terms and conditions eg 'if you use this electronic system you agree to pay the application fee'.
The user is then asked to answer questions such as the date of their decision on their application, when they were notified, their immigration status, then depending on the answers given, the questions will break into further, relevant questions for that user.
The upload of other documents will be possible including the decision letter and other supporting documents.
At the end of the online application process the application is summarised and the user can go back and edit their application if they need to.
Payment for the application is then made through a secure gateway.
Once payment is received a receipt will be generated automatically and an email will be sent to the email registered by the user / applicant. Printing of a copy of the application is also possible.
Registered users can create a profile which will allow them to save applications, view applications lodged and view a list of applications partially completed. Applications which are partially completed sit on a different server to those applications which have been lodged.
Phase 1 is a one way system.
Phase 2 which is coming in March / April 2014 is a more interactive system and will allow for submissions to be lodged online both pre and post-hearing.
Phase 3 - not yet known
Anybody can be a registered user. The system itself if not being set up as a gatekeeper.
MRT-RRT is moving into a new era of online lodgement.
AT meaning about time!!! Its 2013 going on 2014 already. But well done in any case, better late than never.
