Minister for Justice the Hon Michael Keenan MP has announced that a Strike Team to Combat Gang Crime will be set up.  The Department of Immigration and Border Protection will be a part of the Strike Team, which will also include Customs, NSW Police, the Federal Police and the Australian Taxation Office.

Migration Alliance Inc is the peak professional association for Registered Migration Agents.  We have just over 4000 member migration agents and 12,000 total members comprised of public and corporate members.

I believe that Migration Alliance is well served to participate in this strike force against gang crime.  Most of the time, migration agents become aware of crime before it reaches the DIBP.

Migration Agents are influential members of migrant and ethnic communities and are often the first point of contact for problems or become siezed of information relatively quickly in relation to crimes within their respective communities.
