Kevin Rudd has experienced an awkward moment singing the Australian National Anthem.  Note the underlined verse below (Verse 2).   When he sings 'for those who've come across the seas' does he think about PNG and Malaysia (no solution)?

Verse 1
    Australians all let us rejoice,
    For we are young and free;
    We've golden soil and wealth for toil;
    Our home is girt by sea;
    Our land abounds in nature's gifts
    Of beauty rich and rare;
    In history's page, let every stage
    Advance Australia Fair.
    In joyful strains then let us sing,
    Advance Australia Fair.

Verse 2
    Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
    We'll toil with hearts and hands;
    To make this Commonwealth of ours
    Renowned of all the lands;
    For those who've come across the seas
    We've boundless plains to share;
    With courage let us all combine
    To Advance Australia Fair.
    In joyful strains then let us sing,
    Advance Australia Fair.

Becoming an Australian Citizen is the end step in your Australian immigration process and is the evidence you have that you have a commitment to Australia and it's values.

Becoming an Australian citizen is a wonderful opportunity for people from all parts of the world to claim Australia as their own country and call themselves a 'true blue Aussie'.

The reward of being an Australian citizen is amazing.  To become a citizen of this great land, you join in the rich fabric of society made up of many creeds and colours. We are people from all over planet earth but we have one voice.

As the national airline Qantas' theme song states 'I am, you are, we are Australian'.

Migration Alliance members might be interested in the news today in the Sydney Morning Herald where Mayor of London, Boris Johnson says:

'It is time for Britain and Australia to set up a bilateral free labour mobility zone.'

The issue that Johnson sees is that world growth has taken place everywhere else but not especially so in Britain.  Now Britain is looking at Australia, which Britain snubbed back in 1973 and seeing our growth.  I dare say Britain is a little jealous!

Johnson thinks that Britain needs to stop focussing on Europe and the EU and instead create and grow relationships with countries such as Australia that are going to grow in the years to come.  Countries such as Australia offer great opportunities for British people, goods, services etc.

Johnson says:
