Women & Leadership Australia (WLA) is administering a national initiative to support the development of female leaders across Australia’s Legal Sector.

The initiative is providing women with grants to enable participation in a range of leadership development programs.


The leadership development programs are part-time and delivered nationally via WLA’s blended learning model. Scholarship funding is strictly limited and will be awarded based on a set of selection criteria being met.

TOEFL® test experts Helen Cook and Cath Moore from ETS Global will present “TOEFL Insights for Agents” in four Australian cities to help migration agents and migration lawyers stay informed about the choices of English-language tests for skilled migrants.

The free, two-hour session is being offered in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide on select dates from March through May.  Further sessions for other locations are planned later in the year.

This partnership program between TAFE Outreach, Hospitality sections of TAFE, Surry Hills Community Centre and Job Network providers,has changed the lives of many students.

TAFE NSW is an excellent example of how the funds are invested back into training or up-skilling Australians,
especially those with low socio economic status (SES). 
The contributions received through 457 Training Benchmarks are used for these students with complex barriers to education and employment to build skills,vocational training and work experience that will lead to higher level study or pathways to employment.

TAFE targets this cohort and provides a supportive group environment to build confidence, social relationships, motivation, skills and goals with specialised wrap around support services tailored to individual complex needs.

The following information has been received by email from the Australian Embassy in Manila:

SCAM ALERT

The Embassy is aware of a hoax/scam suggesting that visa-free options for Filipino nationals will be available from January 2017. This is a scam and potential travelers to Australia must have a valid Australian visa. Australia maintains a universal visa regime. This means Filipino passport holders must have a visa, as a result of a visa application, regardless of the length of travel. If you intend to travel to Australia for any length of time, please see the Embassy website for information on how to apply for an Australian visa:

  • Previously acceptable visa types are being shown the door by a number of Australian lenders
  • It's still possible to borrow at higher loan amounts with certain visa types and if you can present a strong case to the right lender

21 February 2017, Sydney, Australia - Temporary residents living in Australia are feeling the sting of strict mortgage lending policies for foreigners.

Initially, banks had only pulled back on lending to foreign citizens living overseas wanting to invest Down Under.

In the past year though, a number of banks have been requiring temp residents to come up with larger deposits, even those on long-stay 457 visas.
