Although it may be this time of year but I am getting a lot of enquiries about processing times for RRVs.

Apparently 90 percent of the applications are cleared in about 2 months but where the applicant does not meet the residence requirement it is now about 3 months.

A 32-year-old Indian national has been arrested for serious offences under the Migration Act 1958 after allegedly applying for a protection visa using a false identity and fraudulent identity documents.

ABF investigators will allege that after being refused a protection visa using a different name in 2015, the man obtained a false identity and subsequently attempted to apply for a protection visa in Australia using that identity.

The Australian Citizenship Amendment (Payment of Fees) Regulations 2018 (the Regulations) amend the Australian Citizenship Regulation 2016 (the Citizenship Regulation) to allow citizenship application fees, and refunds of citizenship application fees where appropriate, to be paid in foreign currencies and in foreign countries.

The purpose of these amendments is to facilitate the lawful collection of citizenship application fees in specified foreign currencies and foreign countries at updated exchange rates.

The Regulations will commence on 1 January 2019.
