Executive Chairman of Atlas Advisors Australia Guy Hedley said many high net worth individuals in Hong Kong were turning to investor migration programs around the world to seek a new path in life.
Reopening Australia’s Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) is critical to attract Hong Kong’s most wealthy investors, he said.
“Appetite for investment and migration in Australia from Hong Kong’s highest net worth individuals is ramping up,” Mr Hedley said.
“Australia must maintain a globally competitive migration program if it’s going to attract Hong Kong’s most wealthy investor migrants while also offering a safe haven to citizens in need.”

I have a HK client on a $1.5 million 188 Investor visa asking me a couple of days ago if they were eligible for the proposed safe haven visa announced by Scott Morrison. I told her the details have not yet been published, but in all likelihood the visa may have a condition that the applicants, spouse and dependents cannot return to HK. She is still pondering this.
Whilst this is a complex matter, for the BIIP program it also provides an amazing one in a lifetime opportunity to attract capital, talent and tighten economic ties with HK. Remember HK is also home to many Asian, European and American investors, executives and business people that are not just Han Chinese (I am Han Chinese for the record). They can bring real deals to Australia as HK is the home to one of the largest stock markets in the world, and this is a better time then never. I hope the BIIP review from Dec 2019 brings fruitful improvements that make it more attractive for HK talent to invest in Australia, for Australia.
hong kong people get to the back of the line there are millions of refugees who should get priority unless these people are being murdered i suppose it is your level of perception these people from hong kong are economically at lot better off most do not live in squalor with the threat of constant torture & death as in the case of many of the refugees what about the many chinese mainlanders who also would want to apply these safe haven visas this is very complex situation
