Breaking Australian immigration news brought to you by Migration Alliance and associated bloggers.
Recently we have experienced a high volume of complaints from migration agents about "Customer Service Manager" being refused under sc457 nominations. The refusals are always due to 'non-genuine' criteria.
Reports in from RMAs state that case officers are 'assuming' things and making decisions on their own assumptions.
RMAs want better goalposts around what is and what is not considered 'genuine'. Different case officers have different opinions and there is no uniform decision making.
Perhaps if the DIBP hate approving this position so much, they can attach a skills assessment requirement to the position / applicant, the same as Project and Programme Administrator (which they hated before).
Can other RMAs please share their experiences in this regard? We intend to lobby the Minister about this.
Hi Paul,
Your response to my query is much appreciated!! Thank you. I do not have any 457 yet though a cleaning business owner wanted to sponsor me as he is currently using my services to manage all his client base by providing them responses to their queries, provide the services they look log etc etc which basically comes under Customer Service role. However, a RMA told us that the business can not sponsor me as it will get rejected due to the reason that the employer is a cleaning company and it doesn't need the services of a CSM. I have found out that my occupation is listed in the New STSOL wef. 19th April 2017 in Tasmania and is available under state sponsorship. I have been unaware this occupation was availabe most of the time in SA as well for state sponsorship. I would really appreciate if you could confirm I can apply for State sponsorship in TAMANIA as well as SA as my duties and responsibilities listed for the occupation code 149212 perfectly matches with my previous work experience of more than 8 years in a call centre.
Your comments and advice would be highly appreciated.
Note: I had approached many RMAs in the past 5 years to sadly realise the dact that only 2 out of them had any knowledge about this occupation and it is them who pointed out I have PR prospects in Australia.
Thanks,
Jenny
Thankfully, I have received a positive outcome. I was in two minds on whether to apply for contact center OR customer service manager as I had held both roles in a multinational bank. I had been on a leadership role which I was able to prove through the number of people reporting into me and also through a self declared org structure.
Hi npjunk,
I have worked in the capacity of a Call centre manager at the same time as Custoner Service Manager. Recently trying to get my skills assessment done to apply for State sponsorship in Tasmania for Custoner service manager. I did have quite a good number of team leaders and team members reporting to me while holding the said position in a Multinational Call centre. Any advise you can provide me in relations to getting the skills assessment done, and other matters regards to my PR application etc would be highly appreciated. Advise from an experienced person like you from same line would be a huge stress reliever.
Thank you in advance,
Jenny
From What I know now is that they have kept a cap of 60K aud. Which means the incumbent applying for this job code should be earning around 60K AUD (or equivalent) in the country that he or she is residing currently. Please look at the specifications on ANZSCO website. To Jenny's question - You would need to provide proof of your roles and responsibilities, signed by HR, on the company's letter head, encompassing all previous roles that you have handled. A brief 4-5 bullets defining each role should suffice. It would help further if you have worked with large multinationals. With 8 years of experience, I am assuming that age is on your side too. But, you need show that you are at a senior level and NOT handling customers directly. Some one who creates policies and procedures for the teams to follow, responsible for hiring , managing attrition etc. Making decisions on process improvements , face off to senior stakeholders in organisation. Should typically be at AVP / VP level roles. Provide your form 16 and salary slips as they too provide an indication of the kind of level you are at , apart from authenticating your job.
I've applied for a nomination and sponsorship for Customer Service Manager in March 2016. Last Friday we got the answer and the nomination has been refused. Since then, I've being looking and reading about it and looks like this is a very very very hard position to apply for. Be aware when choosing your agent.
I originally applied in Jan 2016, without an agent. It was simple enough, however it was rejected on the basis of it not being a 'Genuine Position'.
I did not appeal it, but instead hired an agent to resubmit it including the information as to which they had rejected it before. Only for IMMI to come back to me in Nov and request even more information. I submitted statements from the accountant and an organisational chart as requested. Have just found out that YET AGAIN they require MORE "further information"....again on how it is a 'genuine position'. I had been advised that the job role should equate to about 80% of the IMMI's info on the CSM's role and job description...obv not. We have a small company, which is rapidly growing, and in need of someone in Customer Service, and as they will be working alone requires it to be a Managerial position.
Hi
What caused them to assess it as "not being genuine" ? have they mentioned any reasons? Ideally, you should provide them with your job duties on the company letter head and signed off by HR or relevant authority (which includes their designation and contact information).
A CSM role from my experience is perceived as a managerial position with strong people reporting and some 'senior enough' in the organization to make polices and processes (somewhat an approving authority, of a mid to large organization).
Also, they do conduct searches on social networks like Linkedin, position search on company's website to ascertain the authenticity of the Job duties submitted.
If they are asking more information then try not to provide affidavits. They don't work well. You can provide more references (if possible your line manager) who could vet your claims. Once you do this, please ensure that you socialize with your referee to ensure you both respond in the same manner.
Hi, I have more than 9 yrs experience in Customer service manager position from India and is currently on a 573 visa in WA. Looking at the State sponsorship opportunities in SA, NT and Tasmania, is it possible to apply for State sponsorship migration to any of these states? Considering I am currently on a student Visa in Australia, is my chances for State sponsorship migration difficult? I appreciate any advice in this matter.
Thanks,
Jenny
Dear Sonu,
Not to disappoint you but stores like 7 /11, pizzas outlets at times get rejected. If you would go through the entire blog , you would realize that this is the Very reason for the blog to start off at the first place. However, you may be able to defend it with a Solid RMA (registered MARA agent). Who could help you build your case properly. I won't suggest that you do this on your own.
All the best !
Just thought that I should share that I got my PR last month. So all is well that ends well. Next step now is to look for jobs in Sydney. Act of God, helping hand, magic wand , anything is acceptable
In fact, I am also considering Migration Law. Inputs / insights are welcome
All the best to everyone in the blog.
Hi, I have 8 years experience as Customer service manager in a call centre and was not aware of the options to apply for state sponsorship. I wonder if anybody who has already done skills assessment in this occupation provide me with some tips regards to what supporting documents to provide, what else to note and be prepared etc? Any advise on this would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jenny
