Agents of concern: the names on the DIBP blacklist

I just received this link

http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/559130/MigrationAgentsofConcernBlacklist-png.html  Click the yellow button which says 'Download File Now' under the two ads.

THIS LINK IS NOT HOSTED OR CREATED BY MIGRATION ALLIANCE.  WE CANNOT TAKE THE LINK DOWN AS WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE SITE THE LIST IS HOSTED ON.

As predicted the list has now surfaced.

Try opening the link above and see whether your name is on it.

I am going to contact every person who's name is on it and ask them what they are going to do about it.

This is not some DIBP 'mistake'.  This is the specific targeting of RMAs through their clients which is a complete outrage and disgrace.

Two of the agents of concern have already contacted me to get advice about a class action.

Agent not a lawyer and not on list Tuesday, 19 August 2014

Interesting to see LAWYERS on the list!

I have seen this list and I recognise a few names of RMAs who I have dealt with over the years. I have no doubt that Karen To and Michael Dao are on this because they are Vietnamese and high profile Vietnamese in Melbourne.

DIBP has targeted these and other agents because of a belief that the Vietnamese community was riven with bogus spouse claims.

My personal experience tells me that Karen To and Michael Dao are to my personal knowledge, hard working, honest and reliable practitioners.

The presence of their names and many others on this list is a complete disgrace and shows that DIBP is out of control. They do as they please. They never apologise and they are running, as I have previously said in public, an undeclared war against registered migration agents.

This is in direct contrast to the lack of action in the case of Eddy Kang and the other criminal entrepreneurs, all of whom are unregistered. DIBP wake up!

I have dealt with both these agents and they have been exemplary and utmost professionalism. I surely hope that this list does not affect their businesses as they are very reputable in the Vietnamese community.

    Sensitive info

There is nothing sensitive on this website. The sensitive material was somewhere else on the web, not on this website, however I can understand that DIBP would be humiliated and embarrassed by it's own misconduct. The decision to create the list in the first place and then disseminate it to DIBP staff and god knows who else is the really sensitive issue here. Why was this list created? Who made the decision to create this list? Who decided what names were going to be on it? What checks were initiated to ensure the integrity of the list. Was this list disseminated to all overseas posts? How about the MRT? All of this is sensitive.

i have been thinking about this list overnight and some more "facts" are emerging.

The list appears to have been generated when the MARA was the MARA( not OMARA) and features "Agents of Concern" in a list format generated in 2007 to 2009.

You may recall that in those days the MIA ran the MARA.

When the OMARA was established the list morphed into an "Agent of Interest" spreadsheet with all the bells and whistles on ICSE and a "narrative" which presumably lists all the imagined crimes and misdemeanours said to have been engaged in by the RMA.

I am going to FOI the "Agents of interest" ICSE notations for myself and will publish it on the website.

I want to thank the MIA/MARA for this outstanding piece of work and ask.."what were you thinking?"

The list has been removed. Did anyone take a copy of it?

I must say that it is a wildly inaccurate list. I have known Karen To professionally for some time and I am shocked to see her name on this list. Karen is hard working, caring and devoted to professional work and her clients' interests alike.

I just went to the link and tested it. There is no virus on the link. It is fine to download from there. It looks like 136 others have downloaded it this morning so far looking at the download counter.

I am surprised to see to see Anne Frances O'Donoghue, Mary Heath, Grace Chen and Michael Dao, All these agents are high profile and are at the top of their game.
Anne herself is an accredited specialist with a successful firm. This list is not correct.
I am rather shock as a lot of these agents have been in business for well over 5 years.

Specific targeting of RMA's and lawyers is outrages! Whilst unregistered practice inside remains untouched.

I have taken a look at this lists and done some googling.

All these agents have been in business for a long time and are well known in their community. Why does DIBP have a list with their names? Is it because they are doing well in their business and DIBP hates this.

Then Most of these Agents then with the exception of a few. Grace Chen has been in the industry for many years and is well known in our Chinese Community. She is also highly respected and a lot of lawyers will vouch for this.
Why would someone like Grace be on this list?

One of those agents has been investigated by OMARA and sanctioned for extensive, negligent conduct. So get your facts correct before saying everyone on that list is reputable.

I suspect DIBP processing centers outside Australia is also maintaining a local concern list.

  • Liana - Allan
    Liana - Allan Wednesday, 20 August 2014

Everyone on the list cannot be reputable as there are UNREGISTERED agents mixed up in the list too! I wonder why DIBP kept accepting applications from them and I wonder why their names are mixed in with RMAs. Interesting isn't it. Were they arrested? Fined? NO!

    Guest Wednesday, 20 August 2014

So...if the list is mixed up then why would they have names such as Anne on the list. She is highly professional

  • Liana - Allan
    Liana - Allan Wednesday, 20 August 2014

Guest - perhaps you could ask the DIBP or Anne herself?
