Form 80 'are they having a laugh?'

DIBP has become more control freaky recently.  Re form 80, now the last 10 years details has been stretched to the last 30 years details.... and since birth

See the new Form 80.pdf. Example of hilarious questions:

• places you resided for study/work

• refugee camps

• any other place you have resided such as share houses, university residences and temporary accommodation.

19 Have you travelled to any country other than Australia in the last 30 years?

Include:

• work or study outside your usual country of residence

• holiday/leisure trips

• business

• military deployment

• visits back to your own country.

20 Give details of all employment and unemployment since birth

Employment includes:

• all paid employment

• self-employment/family business

• work experience/internships

• unpaid employment/volunteer work.

Unemployment includes:

• from date of birth up until first employment

• all gaps/breaks between employment

21 Give details of all education and qualifications since birth

Education/qualification includes:

• primary, middle and high school

• college/vocational schools

• university

• research/thesis

• specialist training

• skill/trade qualifications.

43 Do you have a partner?

Partner includes wife, husband, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend, significant other and de facto.

 44 Do you have children?

Children includes biological or adopted, children from a current or previous marriage, all step-children and deceased children.

Yep DIBP wants to know everything so they can tell everyone!
    That sounds fair.

Amusingly, fiancee is not covered although I guess 'girlfriend' could possibly cover it. Considering the expanded definition of 'partner' in form 80, should we now be able to lodge partner applications for significant others, boyfriends and girlfriends?

Most clients cannot remember what they did 30 years ago. Some of our clients are having a panic attack after reading the new form 80 !!

Very time consuming, it's a waste of our time. Why does DIBP need to know our clients' primary schools' addresses? Terrorists were trained when they were in primary school?

Shall we be greatful that we are not being asked those questions for, for eg, a passport.

It's a madness - perhaps I will view the video before I say any more.

Just a thought; was the new form introduced on April 1?

Sheer madness . What else can one say .

That’s so funny. DIBP, so is that!!

No wonder it takes so long for processing when they are going to invest so much time concerning them self with so much history.

Q 98,221 of Form 80, update 2015: If we could track your family origins back to the dinosaur age- what dinosaur did you evolve from?

Q 98,222: If you could choose a spices of dinosaur, What would it have been?

    HAHA!

We have been working on this form for a family client since it changed but very hard to complete that. They said their old passport was taken when they got new passport, so impossible to provide the date of traveling outside their home country back to 20 years . They were exhaust by these questions.

So....the form 80 doesn't contemplate a boyfriend or girlfriend or fiance....perhaps 'companion animal" would be ok?

The whole form is a joke - I am attempting to fill one out with my own details and I do not believe that i will be able to complete it.

    Hi Liana -

Not sure if you saw it yet but DIBP recently issued a new form 80 (dated 04/2014) where the 30 year requirement for travel and address history has been backtracked to the previous requirement of 10 years for all but refugee and humanitarian visa applicants – I can only assume MA did some lobbying in this regard – great outcome!

    Best regards,

Well agree wholeheartedly with all the comments. I helped my son do his citizenship within the last 2 years and could not remember doing this Form 80. Phoned Immigration and got a curt woman (previous call was to a very helpful and polite young man). When I asked if it was recent I was told its always been in since Ive been here and virtually said if the application says do it - DO IT. Maybe shes only been there for a short time. Dunno' how we'll do it but do it we must. All for someone who came here when a child in 1981 has never left and never been in trouble with the law. Madness. A police clearance as well which should suffice.

and you should read carefully too. it doesnt matter which visa youre applying, u still have to provide your employment history since birth.

    Hi everyone,
Can somebody tell me that if someone previously submitted a form 80, and forgot to enter some important information then if She/he apply for the next visa, will their previous form 80 details compared with the new one? And if it is then what will be the effect of that?
    Thanks
