Warning about dodgy migration agents - Senator Michaelia Cash

Senator Michaelia Cash has released a press release today warning about dodgy migration agents.  This is after the DIAC had the complaint since January 2012.  Finally the government is listening and the new DIBP has dealt with it.  The Migration Agents Section (MAS) at DIBP in Canberra have sent a copy of this release to Migration Alliance today.  Special thanks is given to the Migration Agents Section for their timely communication and consultation with Migration Alliance.

Mirgation Alliance reported this on the 19/01/2012 during the time the organisation was called DIAC.  This was during the Chris Bowen reign.

This was the email I personally sent to DIAC's MAS in Canberra about AUSFIS on 19 Janurary 2012:

Andrew
Please investigate this.  It has been brought to my attention.  Collins Street, Melbourne address.
More emails to come.

Can the Minister take steps further to prevent offshore non-registered agents from providing migration advice and submitting applications to DIBP?

By doing so, consumers are more aware of RMAs and thus they will become more alert to these scams. Eventually these scams will no longer be circling around.

The issue of offshore non-registered migration agents has been let idle for too long with no action by Immigration Authority.

Many agents have written to me expressing their concern with Senator Cash's use of the word 'migration agents' when actually referring to 'unregistered offshore agents'. I am absolutely sure that Michaelia Cash did not mean that all migration agents are dodgy. I will seek clarification from Ms Cash today on this point and respectfully request, that in future, the DIBP and all Ministers kindly use a different term than 'migration agent'. I am pretty confident that Michaelia Cash is not referring to Registered Migration Agents as this would make a mockery of the Office of the MARA, who's job it is to regulate Registered Migration Agents. Please stand by for any feedback I receive from Senator Cash. I appreciate completely, as a fellow agent, that this term has caused offence amongst the migration agent community, however please can we all try to keep in mind the spirit of Senator Cash's message. Senator Cash, in my view, is attempting to warn and stamp out unregistered practice and in my view it is those people that the Senator has deemed 'dodgy'. I don't expect the Office of the MARA to do anything to protect our profession nor do I expect them to write to or contact Senator Cash over this. I will just do it myself to ensure that it is on the agenda.

    I have a good idea .

Why don't we stopping muddying the waters.

Anyone who is not an RMA who is providing immigration assistance in the migration framework or related fields is not a "dodgy migration agent' they are a "criminal entrepreneur' or a "criminal" or a "criminal syndicate" or a "fraudster'. they are not in any shape or form a "migration agent" dodgy or otherwise.

Can this be raised at the Migration Agents Section (MAS) so they can stop writing press releases which make RMAs ( the good guys) look like crap!

Here is a story just in from an agent in Queensland:
Wow – there is another agency just as equally dodgy as AUSFIS.

    It’s: http://www.paradisemigration.com

Plus they also have a facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/paradisemigration

They have offices overseas, two in Australia and even advertise that they are registered! But they don’t have a MARN number, and they are not on the MARA register!

Double WOW! Ballsy because they have Australian offices (under their contacts) and obviously Australians involved in the business.

Saw their site on the DIBP facebook page and had a gander. Shocking violation!!!

We have quite a few so called “migration agents” in Romania and I know for a fact that some are investigated locally for frauds related to sending “labour force” in EU countries, but there is nothing that authorities can do in regard to their activities as “migration agents” as they are not breaking any local rules....
The most efficient course of action is to enhance awareness amongst the people to only use Registered Migration Agents and this can be done, amongst other means, through a focused campaign in official websites like MA, MARA, DIAC/DIBP, MIA.

It would seem paradisemigration has run away. Error 404- not available. They are nothing if not efficient in avading scrutiny. Maybe a door knock might yield results? The issue regarding offshore agents is that DIBP or any other Government department cannot require registration unless there are substantial and meaningful changes in legislation. That education agents in Australia are permitted, in spite of legislation that precludes it, to provide immigration advice is absurd. I am sure that the Hon. Senator has not meant to offend RMAs but we must make certain that statements made concerning our profession are accurate and cannot be miscontrued by the press or public to discredit our good standing. I offer my personal thanks to Liana Allan who endeavours to safeguard all our reputations.

If DIAC people didn't investigate this matter since 2012 may be because details were provided in English, therefore they also must meet IELTS 7 as from 01/01/2014

Any update on Eddie or Edward Kang and Singapore Oil ?

The issue about DIBP dealing with unregistered
    agents has been long overdue.

If Immigration New Zealand can introduce legislation
to deal with any 3rd parties who are not registered
migration agents, why is DIBP not do it ? Are they
incompetent to introduce the legislation or just being
lazy and couldn't care at all ?

DIBP and the office of the MARA talk about
protecting the consumers but yet they do not act.
    It is time they act.

All Registered migration should submit a petition
to the Minister for the legislation to be implemented NOW
to stop DIBP dealing with 3rd parties who are not registered
migration agents in all visa applications !

AusFis does have some staff operating in Australia, although primarily they're run by a guy in Israel. The address listed on the website is a serviced office address in Australia, so at the very least DIBP should request the serviced office operator to stop representing them.

The serviced office company in this case is SERVCORP.

I've raised this with OMARA and DIAC before but nothing as usual ever happens.

Another illegal operator is Dillinger Consulting. http://www.dilinger.org/
They (legitimately) assist students to study in Australia, but then (illegally) have their own staff visit the students in Australia to advice and process migration applications. No RMA involvement.

Please investigate www.australiaGSM, a friend of mine got scammed an amount of Aud400. It was suppose to be Aud800 and the so-called migration officer offered a half price from Aud800, it's quite alarming because the officer called my friend and asked or another assessment fee of $900 euros. That's ridiculous ! Please investigate or else more victims will get scammed!

They just called me now too from www.australiaGSM.com! it got skeptical when they started asking me for my card info. So i said i will write them. They however tried to convince me that they would not give out their email until i am done with my registration by paying 1023$ usd.
They will call me back in 2 hours from now i think, cos i told them i need to get my card info from home first after close of work.
So i googled them ....and bang!!! i found myself here!
