Mid-year update to the Immigration SA occupation lists

Immigration SA has conducted a mid-year review of its occupation lists - the State Nominated Occupation List (SNOL) and the Supplementary Skilled List (SSL), with some limited changes as a result (Note: the lists undergo greater change at each new program year). 

Changes will take effect on the afternoon of 11 February 2019. Four occupations have been changed to 489 provisional visa only for offshore applicants and this change is effective immediately.

Whilst becoming a permanent resident allows you or your client to remain in Australia indefinitely, travel facility (i.e. ability to travel in and out of Australia) is generally limited to five years.

Police in the Indian state of Punjab are investigating a brother-sister duo, believed to be currently living in Australia, who are accused of forgery and marrying each other in order to get Australian visas.

The Conservative Party has long called for urgent reform of the visa system with rorts and scams abounding. SBS reports, the pair’s cousin complained to the police earlier this month that they had forged a bank account, a passport and other documents in her name and used them for getting an Australian spouse visa.
