Business & Skilled Migration Queensland Announces Online RMA Seminar with Legal Training Australia

Business & Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ) have confirmed that the Business Program and the Skilled Migration program will remain suspended until further notice.

In the latest press release: https://migration.qld.gov.au/  BSMQ advised that it recognises that there are a number of applicants impacted by this situation and will endeavour to re-open the program in December 2021.

BSMQ State Nomination Program

The BSMQ business and skilled program remains suspended while QLD is considering the measures announced in the Federal budget.

Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP)

While the business program is suspended from processing, business applicants are welcome to submit an EOI, however they will not be assessed or receive an invitation at this stage.

Skilled Program

The skilled program remains suspended until further notice. Please DO NOT submit an EOI as they will not be picked up or considered.

While BSMQ recognises there are a number of people in challenging situations, they are required to adhere to selecting occupations critical to the COVID recovery. These occupations will be processed as a priority. Priority cannot be given to applicants who have a visa expiring at this time.

BSMQ received several thousand EOIs from 29 September 05 October and only have a limited quota in the interim period.

Regional Migration

491 invitations are still being sent out to applicants who submitted an EOI between 29 September – 05 October 2020.

BSMQ asked not to call or email to enquire about whether an application has been picked up, or where it is sitting in the queue, as this slows down processing times.

BSMQ advise a re-opening of the skilled program via their homepage and across social media in December 2020.

CPD Seminar to be held on 1 December 2020

Legal Training Australia in partnership with BSMQ will be holding a seminar on the State of Queensland program updates and 491-SBO.  The seminar will take place between 3:00PM to 4:30PM (AEDT).  The seminar will be hosted by Marney Richardson who is a Senior Project Officer at BSMQ, and Ross Ahmadzai, Immigration Lawyer.  Both Marney and Ross have previously presented together for Legal Training Australia.

The seminar will cover an introduction, then a one hour presentation by BSMQ on Queensland State Nomination program updates, a summary of the main criteria in both the business and skilled programs, and also focus on the 491-SBO program requirements and case studies. There will be 15 minutes of Q&A.   RMAs attending the majority of the seminar will be awarded 1 Category B CPD point.
