General Skilled Migration - Offshore VS Onshore Grants

Recent FOI released by the Department of Home Affairs shows the number of on-shore vs offshore GSM visa grants.

For the month ended 30/06/2020, the Department of Home Affairs granted 1024 Subclass 189 visas.  Note, this data also includes grant of visas to secondary applicants.

By contrast, for the same period there were 32 off-shore subclass 189 grants.  The data includes primary and secondary visa grants.

I suspect that 1000 of those grants were for NZ Stream 189's with multiple family members

Is there a different criteria for offshore vs onshore 189 visa? Meaning, if someone with an onshore application has 100 points but the offshore applicant has 95 points. Can the offshore applicant get EOI before the onshore applicant due to its criteria?

well, onshore applicants with 75 points get invite as well, it all depends on the requirement, moreover, the government cleared that they prefer onshore people rather than offshore, while i have 100 points in 189, i don't expect anything before march next year.

    Dear advisor,

I have completed a master's degree in Architecture from an Australian university, skilled assessed. I live in Sydney since 2015. I have more than 65 points. My question is Can I apply for 189 visa EOI as architect ? Asking for the present time as May to April 2021. I am living in Sydney as they do not have an Architect in 190 SOL, so I don't have much choice.. It will be a great help if you answer my question. you can also recommend some solutions. I would like to thank you very much for helping so many people here.

    Regards,

    Hi,
How does home affairs differentiate between onshore and offshore applicants? How do they do know that a particular applicant is onshore or offshore?
    thanks in advance.
