Migration Conference 2016: The AFP, human trafficking and slavery in the context of serious transnational crime

The Migration Conference 2016 in Sydney is shaping up to be a great day for RMAs who enjoy networking whilst learning and obtaining 10 CPD.  The one day event starts at 9am on the 26th of February at Sydney TAFE, Ultimo.

Today I would like to focus on one of the key-note speakers for the conference, from the Australian Federal Police, Agent Gus McLean (pic inset).

Gus McLean is a Detective/Federal Agent with the Australian Federal Police, with a background in the investigation of serious transnational organized crime.

Gus has worked in Australia and internationally as part of numerous multi-agency organized crime task forces.

Gus has undertaken research into law enforcement responses to human trafficking, including the use of intelligence and proactive investigations strategies and the cooperation of law enforcement agencies with other government sectors and civil society.

Gus is a past visiting scholar with the Institute for the Study of International Migration, School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, Washington DC, USA.

Gus will be delivering a hard-hitting presentation to delegates on Partner Migration, forced marriage and slavery from 11:15am.  He will then join a panel of experts at 11:45am to discuss partner migration, risks and crime.  Further information on this is below.
